[General] Fire or Shadow for PVE content: instances, Kara, ZA...?

Okay, here is my situation. I'm looking to do some PVE content, like 5 man heroics and 10 man Kara, ZA I don't really have a desire to dig too deep into 25 mans if any at all. And maybe mix in just a few games of arena a week, just to ensure I get points.

My question is, Is 0/21/40 Fire okay for these places, or should I go Shadow. I've been reading what the requirements are and I know i'm a ways off, and I have work to do.

With all that said, the other question I have is, can I spec something like 39/1/21 or like 40/0/21 something of the like and do well in these places I plan on going? And does someone have a template I can look at? I'm pretty sure I have a close Idea to what it should be, but any help would be appreciated.

Any of the standard raid builds are fine for Kara/ZA/5 mans, etc. Talents such as Maladiction and 5/5 SE are more suited to 25 mans, but are still helpful in 5-10 mans.

We have a warlock running Kara/Gruuls in our guild who is Fire Destruction.
He has 657 Fire Damage and 148 spell hit with 17% crit.
He is putting up ~650 DPS consistently.

Not sure he would do much better with an affliction build. Warlocks are lucky that all 3 main specs are viable in at least some raids.
