Curious about a build...

Thinking of going 0/43/18...Felguard of course. Though was thinking of the non-pet friendly fights, saccing the Felguard for the bonus Shadow damage & Mana regen. Any other thoughts??

Interesting build.

I'm currently going through a 23/38/0 build myself at the moment to give the highest bonus damage. With my imp I just break 1000 bonus shadow damage.

Let me know how your build works out.

Could work quite well. Your pets threat is seperate from your own so then you get more dps without aggroing. You miss ruin, but your s bolts still do a respectable amount of damage, because of 5% soul link and 5% master demo buffs, which makes up for the loss of shadow mastery in aff. Sac suc for non pet friendly fights and you get 5% more damage than with felguard but you lose your pet damage.

21/40 would be better though, less management for your pet, and shadow and flame. Ruin would boost dps a lot.

I've always wanted to try felguard in raids, just for a change. Maybe when I can be bothered and we're doing an easy pet friendly boss I'll try it.

If you truly like non-pet builds. Go with the 30/21/10 build found under raid builds. I have used it for a long time now and love it.

specing demo down to felguard and then saccing should be a last resort.

alive and in combat the felguard will deal way more DPS than you gain from the sac, plus you lose MD/DK and soul link effectivly trading in;
+10%all damage, +130ish spell damage, +35all resists and a 200-300dps pet
for..
Demonic Sac's +10% damage and some regen.

There are 2 "seriously" un-pet friendly fights in all of T5+BT/MH;
Warlord Naj in Black temple, and Archimode in Mount Hyjal.
Other than those keeping a felguard alive is not that hard, and becomes rather simple if you have 2 Tier 5 and the voidstar talisman.

if you cant handle keeping the felguard alive, its probably because of large scale raid wide AoE, in which case using your imp would probably be better than saccing the FG (you lose 10%damage, but buff your party, and still get DK's +damage)

----------------------------------------------------------------
That all out the way, the 0/43/18 spec is a great raid felguard spec, and served me well right up till illidan (at which point i had 4T6, and spec'd 0/21/40)

Raiding With Felguard (SSC, TK, Hyjal, BT) - The Warlocks Den Forums

A great guide that provides in-depth knowledge about raiding with a felguard.

For the large boses I second the idea of taking out the imp, setting him to passive and using phase shift. This benefits the whole group.

I'm just not buying into the whole pet sacrifice for extra damage thing. As previous poster said, your going to get soul link a bunch of other buffs having your pet out as a demon lock.
