So...I'm at a bit of a pickle right now...ive been affliction for 67 levels right now, and don't get me wrong, I love being superman, however...I kinda want a change of pace. I tried felguard for a few hours a month or so back at 60, and absolutely hated it, and ive wanted to try destro for a while...but I don't like losing all my little jedi tricks that allow a deep affliction build to grind like an invincible powerhouse...so ive been trying to come up with a hybrid affliction/destro spec that gives me dark pact for mana concerns, and gives me siphon life for when the shit hits the fan, but lets me nuke as a primary means of killing, so this is what ive came up with so far.

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

Now lets get this out of the way right off the bat: its not an ideal spec, im sure it has issues, im not looking to be anything spectacular, i want to be able to kill things moderately fast, while still being able to manage more than one mob if i get an add, and not have any mana issues. Im currently 67, so the points in health stone and cataclysm wont be there yet, I'm just wondering, will it work, and, keeping with the general theme of the spec, anything i should change around? Please, no "omfgz nubz0rs thats not sl/sl, 0/21/40, or deep affliction, you suck!", i don't want a normal spec, I want something that fits the guidelines id like to play under, being:

1. Good survivalability, especially when i get 1-2 adds
2. Blast things in the face with shadowbolt and shadowfury to make them dead

One major question, would a fire route be more viable than a shadow route for a spec like this? something like:

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

That spec is probably horrible but the thought of going fire over shadow just popped into my head

Thanks in advance

5/5 Aftermath? Nooooo

For a better build that should sort of tide you over, check out this thread:

Raiding build 31/9/21 - The Warlocks Den Forums

It's sort of the optimized version.

Going fire is totally viable these days and if you aren't raiding 25 mans and don't have a whole lot of spell damage, fire is loads better than shadow, not to mention more fun to play.

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

9/7/47...an odd spec, but I think you'll like it. The killer is improved drain soul. Drain soul while you fire off that last incinerate and you'll gain 15% of your mana back, and should make the grinding a ton easier on your mana pool. For a cast rotation on a mob with moderate health:
Pull with incinerate, while that incinerate is traveling cast immolate, then Curse of Agony, Corr, incinerate, shadowburn, conflag, drain soul back for mana while dots finish him off. Throw the shadowfury in when you need to.

Well, I think hybrid builds are refreshing, ofcourse the best build in all 3 trees are already out there and there is no discussion about it, but in my opinion it is indeed about having fun, thats the way you should play, with a build you like.

I was Demonology all the way up to 70, so I leveled as a Fellguard lock, being used to the demons and the uber stats provided by the demon tree, I was having trouble when I set my first steps in the affliction world. However playing a bit with the talents, I came up with a build I really love now. If your not hardcore in any specific area (raiding, pvp, ...) it's fun.
You have the advantages of ruin, wich tbh is really nice when spamming SB, the lovely instant shadowburn and some of the goodies in the affliction tree. I actually miss 1pt to complete the HoT upgrade. But still the improved HS gets my preference.
Usually running Heroics or Kara, I do great on the DPS charts but like I said we're anything but hardcore raiders.

Here's a link to my build.
