PvP Spec for grinding? (28/0/33)

I have probably done the worst thing and picked a PvP spec for grinding with a fire mage friend of mine. It's a 28/0/33 shadow spec. I have got it up to doing Nightfall 2 and Ruin and it seems playable but I'm sure others are having fun drain tanking and levelling faster.

Some of the goals I have are to:

* complement the fire mage so it's not all one type of damage by sticking with shadow and his with fire
* however, wanting to utilize his effects that make the enemy more vulnerable to fire.
(not sure which of the above is the best way to go)

Next,

* since I'm level 50, I've been hearing about raids and PvP more (I'm on an RP server so I can learn the game without ghostrunning/dying constantly), and want to know what I should build for that.

Then,

* I want to have fun. I sometimes think I should have played mage because it's kind of a competition to see who gets the best numbers. Most of the time when I play now, it's with the mage but I'd like to be able to solo well and survive really well whether alone or not, I'd also like to do well in dungeons which I really really enjoy. I hate corpse retrieval and so this is my highest goal, even over having super high damage but I have saved the mage's *** many a time with my "dispatching" of high power mobs that he's pulled aggro from and it seems that fast damage seems to equate to some survivability.

* I've only done this spec and want to know what I'm missing. Any help or comments are welcome.

Re: PvP Spec for grinding? (28/0/33)

If you want to work well with a Fire Mage, spec heavy Destruction and use fire spells. Having your damage come from different schools just isn't efficient - he has a stacking debuff that increases fire damage, and you have to choose between a curse that increase shadow damage and one that increases fire damage. If you're both using fire, you're both able to benefit from each other's spells.

If you'll let me take a stab at it, it sounds like you want to play Demo and don't know it. . You won't get survivability from fast burst damage, you'll get it from actual survivability.
