Just a question of choice

Currently my build (Or build to be, I'm only 66, close enough to start thinking about a respec.) is this: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IVMdVRbZ0gczIizzesd

About the only thing I'm unhappy about with it is the Improved Drain Soul which I wish I could move 1 into Soul Siphon, but other than that, I've been happy with it since level 54. (Got to 54 with Affliction then respecced) Perhaps change improved health funnel to improved healthstone, though I don't really use healthstones that much and it's nice to be able to efficiently heal my Felguard, or other pet. One of my questions with this build is: I'm not planning on being a hardcore raider or anything, once I reach 70 I'll probably waste a LOT of time in Battlegrounds, so if I were to raid, would it be viable to apply my DoTs, then use Drain Life (This is for bosses)?

My thought is that while I won't top the damage charts (There is more than just damage to stuff like that, you know), I'll be dealing constant DPS, with the improved Fel armor my Drain Life will be healing me for more than normal while also dealing more damage than normal, with Nightfall proccing occasionally I can toss out some extra DPS, the healers won't have to heal me as much due to my healing myself through Drain Life (Less healing for me = More mana, less stress for them), and with the improved Life tap and mana feed, my Felguard should have more than enough mana to cleave while I myself should rarely run out of mana (If at all.) Am I just delusional or is this a possibility? (Well, everything is a possibility. You know what I mean.)

It won't work as well as you think. You'd just be filling up a full health bar, and when you do get hit, it's usually more important to be healed quickly than healed without using a healer's mana. If we're talking boss fights, you should be shadowbolting instead of draining.

Shadowburn's nice, but I don't think you'll find it worth giving up so much from Aff.

Keep in mind Imp Drain Soul is Aff threat reduction as well as the free mana on killing blows.

Still, you'll be making more than enough more to afford some respec experimentation. (Probably also more than enough to respec completely for occasional PVE stuff, if that's a concern.) If you ever do so, come back and update the thread.
