[pve,raid] Proper use of a 0/21/40

Hi!

I just switched from affliction to shadow destro and I was wondering if there was a general guideline for how to play this build properly in pve and raids. I already looked up the EJ compendium and wanted to double-check a few things with you guys.

What exactly is the course of action during a raid? It seems like most of the times you sac the succubus for +15% shadow damage, Curse of Shadows the main target and then just SB the crap out of it till it drops, then try to regain mana by lifetapping and getting healed or bandaging / drinking. Is there anything else that should be done in the meantime or beforehand?

Also, for a 0/21/40, supposedly I want to prioritize spell hit over the remaining stats. To what extent do I want to do that? Do I want to cap the rating at 202 as fast as I can (including +hit gems instead of +damage or crit gems) and THEN try to slowly substitute in the lower priority stats as I get better gear, or do I want to approax max crit and hit at the same time while increasing damage?

I'm curious too---just spam SB? Would there be any benefit to putting points in imp life tap?

If you are going to be 0/21/40, max hit first. Every miss is DPS wasted. once you are capped (or withing 5ish points of it) start looking at crit and damage.

The line, if I remember correctly, for being effective at destro above other spec's is 202 hit, 20% tooltip crit, and 1k spell/shadow damage.

ya for destro you wanna make sure you have the minimum gear requirements the rule of thumb used to be t5 - t6 gear but with badge gear and such you can pretty much respec when you got 17-20% (affliction spec) 25% destro spec crit, 1k spell damage is really really being minimal with spell damage but i guess you could be ok and yes, you need 202 spell hit or a 1.5 second cast will be resisted more often than you desire.

To answer your question, YES. just spam SB and keep up a curse. if your guild doesnt have a utility lock that is spec'd 3/3 malediction then its y our job to CoE.

No dont spec into afflcition for imp life tap because you need to sac your succy for this spec to get the 15% shadow damage bonus, and keeping up corruption will drop your dps significantly. my favorite lock guide (pre island badge gear info) is this from Buzzkill in nihilum

With the gear that 21/40 is intended to be used with you will have very few mana issues (potting on cd of course). With any aff talents you lose a lot of dps due to the loss of either snf or ds both of which are the primary damage sources in a 21/40 build.

all you gotta worry about in raids for shadow destro is: fel armor, succu sac, curse, and spam shadow bolt. Dont cast immo or corruption. And then if there are trash demons ask raid master if enslave or banish. And dont be stupid and soc all the time and die on trash mobs, some people do that to help their ego when it crits
