Musilina 70 Human Warlock Quel'Thalus Euro PvE Guild: Shattered Profile: Blizzard Armory Talent Spec: 44/0/17 |
44/0/17 for heroics and occasional raids
Character Name: Musilina
Armory Profile: The World of Warcraft Armory Wowhead link of current build in use: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft Wowhead link of proposed build: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft << old build that I'm thinking of returning to. Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft << needs a lot of work. PvE Play style and Requirements of build: Running most heroic instances regularly and going to Kara whenever I can get a group. I'm fairly keen to stay afflic., and, as such, I really don't have the gear to support desto. (lack of crit). I'm looking for something that will be useful to the group/raid as a whole, but will still get me a respectable dps. PvP Play style and Requirements of build: Very occasional BGs. Additional Comments: Basically, I'm wondering if, at this point, Shadow Embrace is better than Supression. I really don't want to give up my instant howl of terror or corruption either. |

Re: 44/0/17 for heroics and occasional raids
Your talent build isn't very tailored to PVE which you say is your focus. Even with occasional bg's you can survive without some of the more pvp oriented talents.
There are several problems I see with your builds: 1. they all include soul siphon which is the worst aff. tree talent. Drain life is the worst use of your time in raids and heroics. Only use it if you are going to die otherwise. Even then you'd be better off using a pot or hs and continue dps. 2. iHoT is something that you can live without. You will never need it in PvE situations unless you are solo, which even then it's not that necessary. However you are choosing it over Shadow Embrace and Malediction, which are much much better talents for groups. 3. The 44/17 build you were using didn't even have improved drain soul which is the talent that gives aff locks their threat reduction. 10% is nothing to sneer at. I would recommend something like Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft for a decent dps aff build. The only one of the three you listed that I thought was ok was the 43/7/11 but I like having my dot's and shadowbolts at the same max range. As for your question about suppression, it is a must. You only have 90 hit which is 7% and therefore you are way undercapped on everything without suppression. You could maybe take a point out of it but /shrug you'd still be a 1% undercap on dot's. |
