First time in Hyjal - respec to demo?
I'm going to Mt.H tonight for the first time and i'm thinking of respeccin from destro to demo (40/21).
Why? Well I've read the strats but obviously I'm new to the place (guild is high-end though and knows the place very well). So I'm wondering if I might be better off with some survivability bonus, rather than higher dps. I feel the stam buff from imp (no one else will have one out), along with soul-link, lower threat and possibly using the felpup to increase my shadow resistance on boss fights that benefit from it, might all add up (I have no shadow resist gear). Not only will I survive more but my total damage will be higher from being alive longer. My gear stats are: - 202 hit - 1059 shadow damage (unbuffed) - 21.09% crit Any thoughts? Thanks ![]() |

Re: First time in Hyjal - respec to demo?
Honestly, no I don't think you'd be better off. Your are brought to do damage, so that's what you should focus on. Surviving is more about having good healers, reading a threat meter, and poping health stones/pots at the right time. And learning that fire=bad!
Also, you mentioned soul linking an Imp?? He will be dead pretty fast I would think. Some of the trash is harder than the bosses. For the trash you need excellent aoe damage, and 0/21/40 provides this. |

Re: First time in Hyjal - respec to demo?
I go Demo for Hyjal...but thats because I either provide imp for tank on boss fights (or for the Pally tank on trash sometimes) or I sac the felguard for the 10% damage and 2% mana back. SoC uses a LOT of mana. The real answer here is to discuss this with your class leader and raid leader and see what they want. If the raid leader wants an improved imp on the tanks, then that is what they should get...despite what that will do to your DPS. Never soul link the imp while providing tank support. Keep it on passive so that unless you die it is there for the blood pact bonus and soul link will kill it fast if you get attacked....hyjal mobs do a lot of damage quickly.
Don't forget your PvP trinket for the Rage fight, that escape from trap will mean life or death. |

Re: First time in Hyjal - respec to demo?
You're better off as 0/21/40 then downgrading to 0/40/21
"I feel the stam buff from imp (no one else will have one out), along with soul-link" Soul-linking an Imp? Well you won't have that stam buff for long. Not to mention you'll get grouped with the tanks because you have your imp out, making it impossible for you to get SP group attention, or Boomkin, Shaman bonuses. Result? Potential awesome buffs no longer available. "lower threat" Just cast less SoCs. On boss fights if you pull aggro on a tank from a guild that has this area on farm, well, then the tank has some issues. Cause your specs won't reach that threshold that easily. "using the felpup to increase my shadow resistance on boss fights that benefit from it" There's a reason people craft SR gear for Mother Shahraz. Once you have the HoDs, it is assumed to be focused on. Get the gear, don't bother with the pet resistance bonus and hurt your performance on every other boss. "Not only will I survive more but my total damage will be higher from being alive longer." You're new to Hyjal and you're in a guild that has done this area many times. Chances of you getting owned are very slim unless you do something radically out of place. Survival is not really an issue. You will get healed from small damage you take. Your targets are well tanked. This point is irrelevant. |
