leveling with a rogue

Hey my warlock is currently only level 23 and I'm doing the recruit a friend thing with a rogue. Right now I'm specced affliction but since we kill things so fast i don't think I'm really getting the full benefits of my dots. Also even being affliction it takes a lot of effort to keep my mana up. I have the soul siphon talent but when I use drain life it really doesn't give me very much health back and I'm normally sitting around 50% health and 50% mana and it just slowly dwindles until i have to rest. I didn't have this problem when i did solo and I know its because I have to cast a lot more from going through mobs a lot faster. I have improved drain soul too but it pretty useless right now since the rogue will normally get the killing hit and I won't get 15% mana back. So I guess my question is should I still stick with affliction? I know it will probably get better when I get siphon life and dark pact but since the mobs normally die before my dots can fully run there course would it really be more mana efficient and effect if I specced like destruction? Right now I normally cast immolate, curse of agony, corruption and then drain life and lifetap; is there a better way for me to be going about this in my situation ?

Re: leveling with a rogue

My quest friend is a rogue and we quest together on occasion. I can't advise on builds, but in my opinion, don't bother to cast DoTs on the mob the rogue is taking down, since, like you undoubtedly know, mobs die fast.

If there are multiple mobs, unless they will live longer than 20s, casting Curse of Agony is a waste of mana in my opinion.

Re: leveling with a rogue

A good friend of mine is a rogue, and when we play togather I will be the main tank/puller, I typically find an area with many mobs at my level and near to each other, then just cast my instadots while running while my friend just burns things down around me. Works out well once you get siphon life dot. Also try for gear with +spell power and +sta if you can get it.

try this spec for level 23:
Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft
or if you are finding that you die more often than you would like try this one:

good luck, it gets better later on.

P.S. get that first aid up for the bandaids and buy lots of food, all for lifetap
