Shadow Destro Builds, 3.0.2 lvl 70 and lvl 80.
I've played with quite a few builds so far, Fire Destro, Aff, a Demo Meta build, and a (due to inspiration from the BT video) a pure VW Tanking Demo build (which was a riot). In any event, I'm pretty settled on my current build: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft It's a pure Shadow Destro buiild. Drop CoD, sic imp, spam Sbolt. I don't know why it works, or how it works, but I'm doing more damage than any of the other builds I've tried and I'm not tracking CD's or refreshing dots, or really worrying about procs. Yeah, it's RNG based, but what Destro build isn't? Anyway, I'm averaging over 2000 DPS on nearly every encounter through BT and SW. Not that they are hard, but I don't know where else you can really track performance other than on a boss. My imp is a full 200-300 of my DPS. But I digress, I posted in this forum for a reason and am curious for your opinions. As I look forward, I still see rotations that are extremely convoluted for Aff and Destro (IMO). You can call me a noob or unskilled for not being able to keep DoTs up, but I will mention that I spend a good portion of my raiding time leading them and tracking Burns, Stomps, Ports, and Parasites while monitoring CD's and DoT durations isn't the easiest thing to do. So I'm looking towards 80 now and that build as I hope to be 80 in the next 4-6 weeks and fully immersed in Naxx. I'm looking at 2 builds: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft Which is the natural evolution of my current build. Or. Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft Any insight? Are 2 Dots and 15% more Shadow Damage and Nightfall procs > Imp on Roids and endless crit? I dunno. Anybody have any insight? |

Re: Shadow Destro Builds, 3.0.2 lvl 70 and lvl 80.
Honestly, in full T6/Sunwell, I'm having the best luck with the old 0/40/21. My succubus is staying alive for the most part, and I'm dishing out an incredible amount of damage (though not on par with melee, there are no pure casters able to keep up.) There is a significantly better-geared warlock in the guild who can outDPS me on bosses as 56/0/5. Basically, I throw up a curse, refresh instant corruption in hopes of getting a nightfall proc off my glyph, but otherwise it's the old 0/21/40 with slightly less range and a heck of a lot more crit. This is NOT a fire destro build. Shadow Bolt is your bread and butter. Also, with the new buffs coming down, add in 5% more crit and 20% soul link you have better survivability also. If you have the gear, try it out on a target dummy.

Is your Succubus staying alive? I raided for a good long time with that build. The biggest problem I encountered was always her staying alive. The fact that she buffs crit now seems interesting. I may have to try it. Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft Looks appealing for 80. I see Demo being a massive boon to casters at 80 as I assume most will have over 2000 Spell power, so that would be another 200 spell damage to the raid, which is substantial. Re: Shadow Destro Builds, 3.0.2 lvl 70 and lvl 80.
She is staying alive. It does require some creative positioning, for instance on Brutallus, I have to pre-position her to join the fight from an angle that won't put her in slash range. She stayed alive on Na'Jentus without issue the other night and I feared for her most on that encounter. On Kil'Jaeden, I have to make sure I recall her when we run to a dragon bubble, or the shadow nova will one-shot her, but otherwise, she's a lot more survivable than you might think. I'm not in the best crit gear, but I do regularly exceed 50% crit on recount parses against the level 70 target dummy in Undercity. All of that is at the mercy of the RNG though. ![]() On initial parses, I feared for the mana use on this spec...There is no improved Soul Leech or any other form of rapid mana regen, but in a raiding scenario, with all of the mana regen available from other classes, it has yet to be an issue. I can go all out all the time without a lot of life tapping. It also helps that (currently) mobs are dying so fast. Last edited by Korth; October 27, 2008 at 12:06 PM.. |

Agreed. Me neither. I do have Imp Soul Leech, but I agree with you, I'm gonna give it a shot, thanks Korth! |

Just a personal perspective, I had soul leech and imp soul leech and it was pretty much 5 wasted talent points. It barely provided my any mana or health. At least nothing worth 5 talent points for. I would almost rather stun something with destro spell then leech its soul. lol |

I'd rather loose 1% crit for me and my demon if that means it can stay alive longer. I'm really concerned about it's survavibility, because we're on K'J and this fight has a lot of splash/aoe damage. My template is overly simplistic (corr, immo, inci spam), I'm at about 1200dps on a typical K'J try (sucks): http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-ta...Hyjal&n=Nizboy I was thinking of switching to something like this: http://www.wow-europe.com/fr/info/ba...01000000000000 (Edit: I used to reach 2400dps over 6 mins with CoD previously. Doing half as much now is NOT FUN.) Last edited by Niz; October 28, 2008 at 11:15 AM.. |

Re: Shadow Destro Builds, 3.0.2 lvl 70 and lvl 80.
My first post and just looking for some advice on my rotation. I am a T6 lock raiding SWP and my DPS has not been the same since the patch/nerf. I use to be 21/40 SB spam and currently switched to 0/3/58 fire. My rotation on trash is immolate, incenerate x3, conflag. Boss fights (CoE is already thrown by another lock) corruption, immolate, incinerate x3, conflag (for backdraft) SB, SB, SB till backdraft ends, repeat. Usually pop trinket and drums at the beginning of fight. Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft My stats are 1460 Spell Damage, 22% crit, 192 Haste, 237 hit (way over cap I know) self buffed. I have actually had two gear upgrades since the patch and my DPS is still lower. I am running out of ideas so if you have any suggestions please let me know. This is my first post so go easy on me, thanks. Last edited by Ebonixx; October 28, 2008 at 11:03 AM.. |

Re: Shadow Destro Builds, 3.0.2 lvl 70 and lvl 80.
I am in the same exact situation as you with upgrades and lower DPS. I keep reading here -> try this build and try that build. What I haven't read much yet is what your DPS was pre/post patch. Who has a build which increased or got you to the closest DPS you had pre patch? What is it and what is your rotation. This would be for locks who had over 1k + damage unbuffed. - Bean |

My guildy presented me with my current build by proceeding to out-dps everybody on a 2 hour BT run. I basically copied that build. In essence, the build I originally posted is still shadow bolt spam. Imp. Soul Leech definitely procs more than you think (I did Kalecgos Sunday without Life Tapping and only getting replenishment twice). Your imp is literally 200-300 of your DPS. In fact, when hero pops, he's downright scary. My Sbolts, with around 1560 spell damage fully buffed are right around where they were with 0/21/40 but my crit is waaaay up, on certain fights I'm over 50%. I'm still over hit cap, but I've lowered things based on stacking more haste (as raid buffed with Focus Magic I'm over 30% crit). The World of Warcraft Armory That's the build. I think you will be surprised, Shadow Bolt is still extremely high for DPCT and DPM versus all the other stuff needed to proc the buffs in other builds. What I originally posted for was to see whether anybody had any opinion of this build and the next evolution of it at 80. I see either going further down Demo to continue to buff the imp with unholy power and improving our stones (as they now are incredible) or Changing directions entirely, using the imp as a mana battery and going with a SM/SnF build and having three functional dots. Anybody have any opinions? I just want to add that I ultimately agree a 0/40/21 build will have a very high upside as well. |
