builds for lower gear
I know we do not represent a majority, but for someone fairly new to the lock community, and because I am a recent reroll. high level gear is hard to come by, I see sooooo many builds for "full T6" or SWP gear" builds, but has any one worked out specs (aside from my noob self) that can work well for lesser geared player who will likely be using pvp gear, and quest gear when wrath hits shelves? Again, I know we do not represent a LARGE % of locks, but I think that in all fairness there needs to be some good spec info for the newer locks out there that are still trying to get their feet wet on solid playstyles.... I don't want to sound bitchy or whiny, it's just an issue that I see popping up during discussions!

yeah, sorry I was not more specific.. I assumed that a number of locks were like me, in that they would read the posts but were weary at first bout posting.. I drop posts where I can about the things I am doing at my gear level (really bout as low as it gets lol), and all I have to work with personally is long term game exp in general.. and as an answer to my own question, I have found that doing a heavy demonology build has been more beneficial in the long run for the low range pve/pvp ( kara/heroic/BG).. something what I was using when I first hit 70 9/52/0 or maybe modified some to a 9/47/5 (for more powerful bolts) has allowed me to do solid dps given my stats (813sp, 17% crit, bout 100 hit), it also allows some survivability in pvp.. its a good chance to learn character control by first learning to control your pet (arguably the harder, but more interesting thing to do) and then controling yourself.. imo at early stages our Glevel just can't support a heavy affliction build since we lack solid levels of haste and damage, destro can be a bit complicated now a days with the tree reworks, and new talents and abilities.. all in all I think personally its a good "starter" spec that allows the newer lock to play with a variety of abilities, work on rotation and timing with out the "oh ****, I pulled too many" pains. anyone having input on this would be greatly appreciated, Ill be posting some vids once I get my movie maker fixed..

Yeah, we need to get more people posting heh. These days especially, I'd say most Warlocks know more about the class than I do, so please don't ever feel scared to post or ask about anything - lower levels especially. It's been over two years since I was a Warlock at end game. I was always a Demonology Warlock, I enjoyed the pet playstyle, especially in instances and PvP - Felguard FTW.

youtube.com wouldn't let my video finish uploading the video of my voidwalker main tanking sethekk halls... not OT.. not "oh snap the tanks dead" but the only tank lol its kinda fun, and the first real challenge as a lock.. goes back to the learning to control your pet! edited cause my video format was NOT supported...lol Ill be retrying tonight, I'm gonna take this time to add the commentary I wanted to do before!

Ooh interesting. You'll have to share that here! I'm sure quite a few Warlocks would be interested in that sort of thing, I know I would. It would be fantastic to see Warlocks considered if there are no tanks available, hell, take us instead of tanks! We'll rule the world!

I have similar low end gear/specs and I think Demo/Felguard is the most useful spec for farming/instances. I tried affliction it's awesome but with the instance nerfs I can't put out competitive DPS. I haven't tried any Destro spec either as it just seemed too complicated and I gave up lol. I also had the impression that most posters were all in T6/SWP endgame gear. |

I think, in all honesty it would be too much for us to be considered for tanking consistently, I completely support having the capability to, and for some locks, the will to lol. but the only way we could be reliably chosen..and this is a VERY BIG THING.. we would need a genuine taunt ability, and we would need CC break mechanic for pets. I'm a huge supporter of different locks for different spots, how ever I also agree with blizz that there are some things that really ar kind of meant for other classes. And yes I intend to go tank lock LFG halls of lightening when wrath comes out!!!! and Genocide: a suggestion if I may. recently since I have been having loads of free time with all raids suspended for my guild. I have taken to doing a bunch of dailys for respec gold and actually spending time making a half decent destro spec for us blue dps'rs, I hope to have some good info to post soon, Im relying on my handwriting and very basic rotation and composition.. there will also be no actual math involved (was not best subject) but I WILL be making a video of it. so you will be able to see what is happening. If I might make the suggestion to use this time to start looking at the various toys you can get with varied specs. I know it seems to get expensive, but in the end, doing it now when dailys are the main pass-time, it will be less of a burden then when trying to level and gold becomes sparse..thanks all for the posts so far!!
