a question on builds
im quite happy with my current full destro build and know i can do whats asked of me in raids and always manage to rank in the top 5. we have 2 affliction locks that beat me with ease and here is my question has it been proven without any doubt that a destro build cannot compete with an affliction build in terms of dps i dont like affliction as im already busy rotation wise with my destro build but i want to make sure |

I personally think it can. But: The gear isn't there. It's harder to play. It's more sensitive to lag than affliction. It's far more reliant on pet DPS. |

Are you talking dps or overall damage? An Aff-Lock will always out-damage a destro because they can attack multiple targets more effectively. |

On trash there is no doubt that destro will beat out affliction. On bosses affliction will beat out destro 9 times out of 10. I have never played destro as I played affliction from the start, but affliction has a lot more things to watch out for and a lot of things have to go right to get that high amount of dps. It has a longer rotation and it is very dependant on having all your spells up at all times (not casting haunt cripples our dps). Affliction has a lot more mobility from my understanding as well. But its your lock and its a game youre paying for so do what you think will be better for you. Quote:

no it wouldnt change the fact i dont like affliction spec . but in all fairness me not liking it doesn mean that i shouldnt consider swapping if it brings more to the raid for our guild. |

I've always been destro...(i should also mention i have not even played LK yet) but never the less, in all instances i played, we always looked at total damage done over dps(if you are in to that kinda thing..)I always have noticed that DPS and most damage done per instance are usually 2 different people, at least in my experiences. I keep up with all the posts here and other spots as well and makes me happy to see that destro seems like it will be where it should, as the gear gets better.Just looking at the trees (I been messing around with builds to see what im gonna do) affliction is kinda tempting,BUT, depending on raid make up destro has to be the most fun to play. Now that there is no CD on soulfire, it makes some destro builds more intersting depending on how many shards you wannna bring with you. If shards were not a factor, it seems a dedicated destro lock can kick some major mob,boss or not.I personally will farn the **** outta shards to bring to heroics/raids and use SF over CB. Is it just me, or should we be the only ones BRINGING THE PAIN dps/damage wise?!!(ESPECIALLY DESTRO!)The name says it all. Destruction might not be best overall DPS in most cases(ElitistJerks!)but we will prevail as in BC, because gear says it all and the best gear is yet to come......
