low dmg/dps 3/13/55 destro need help.
low damage/dps 3/13/55 destro need help Character Name: Wickeddeath Armory Profile: The World of Warcraft Armory Wowhead link of current build in use: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft Wowhead link of proposed build: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft PvE Play style and Requirements of build: I am currently raiding Naxx 10-25, EoE 10-25, have yet to do OS at all and have a little experience with the first boss in Ulduar and Razorscale. I am hit caped and figured this build would help my dps but I was wrong. PvP Play style and Requirements of build: I do not pvp anymore since Wrath of the Lich King. Additional Information: I have respec'd to every cookie cutter build now. I think it's been over 15+ times trying to get my dps to go up. I have people telling me that for my gear I should be pulling around 3k dps +. Self buffed I am currently only pulling 2200-2500dps if I am lucky. I am starting to lose hope and getting very frustrated. I have sank so much gold into trying to boost my dps and have had no luck. Everything I spec into my dps is mostly the same. Feels like I'm bashing my head up against the wall anymore and I'm starting to dispise my lock who is my main and the only toon I ever really play. I have been playing a warlock for 3-5 years now so it's not that I don't know my class. My rotation is immolate> conflag> chaosbolt> incineratex2> curse of agony> corruption. I am using the immolate, conflag, and life tap glyphs. Any insight would be greatly appreciated because I am feeling hopeless and about ready to quit my lock all together. Thanks in advance. |

I hate to say this but destro is not the way to raid anymore. I hate to say that because I was destro for years. All the way through bc. I was 0/21/40. That was thee spec back in the day. When wrath came out I tried to stick with it but after watching myself get lower and lower on the dps meter I knew it was time for a change. I spent hours in these forums looking over specs and what rotation each each spec had. I looked at talent chic to see what was most popular sadly it was not deep detro and I knew I had to make a change. I did what every other lock was doing pre 3.1. 0/41/30. Yes I know that there was also a deep afflic build but that rotation was beyond me to be honest. As I learned the rotation for 41/30 I watched my dps rise and my name on the charts. When 3.1 came out 0/40/31 was the new build and even with the nerf talent chic still says it is the number one spec followed by afflic. Destro is dead and I think you should make a change. I stayed 41/30 for a few days after 3.1 and was doing the same amout of damage but other locks in my guild where raving about deep afflic. So I took my 50g to the trainer and unlearned my talents and spec'd deep afflic and I must say I love it. I went from 2200-2500 41/30 to 3k easy every time on the dummy. Today my shammy friend I grouped up on the dummy and just with his buffs I was hitting almost 4k. Now my gear is not that good, your gear trumps mine but i can see myself getting way over 4k in a 25 man. The rotation is much easier now but still takes some skills. You don't want to clip your dots and you have to remember to switch to drain soul when the target gets below 25%. Try deep afflic and practice the rotation over and over till you can do it in your sleep. I am up at the dummy whenever I am not raiding just to get better at it. Deep afflic scales really well with gear. make sure you get the right glyphs and walk up to that heroic dummy and show it's who's boss. Rotation...sb>haunt>ua>corrution>Curse of Agony. Then use sb for fillers and when the target gets below 25% use DS as filler. Pet, I use the whore, I think she does more damage than the fel puppy. Give it a try and see what comes of it. I miss being deep destro like I was in bc but today is a different day and afflic seems to be the way to go, at least for me. Hope that this helps. |

I spec'd into affliciton/destruction just an hour ago to give it another shot and my dps is not improving. I am still only getting 2400-2600dps on a dummy. Thanks for the helpful advice but it didn't do the trick sadly. |

Destruction isn't too bad really. Use CoD instead of Curse of Agony, unless you think the boss has less than 60 seconds left, then switch to Curse of Agony. A good initial cast is Immo>CoD>Conflag>Chaos Bolt>Spam Incin Keep Immo up at all times, but pay close attention that you don't renew it too early. If you do that it will most likely not reapply, and that is a huge dps loss. Conflag as soon as it's off cooldown, but don't wait on it. If there is 1 second left to wait on conflag, cast another incinerate or chaos bolt. Same thing with Chaos bolt. Use it as soon as it's off CD, but never stop casting to wait on it. ALWAYS BE CASTING SOMETHING. If all else fails on not knowing what to cast, spam Incinerates while you figure it out. DPS uptime, or activity, is the best thing you can do for your dps. Spam your spells quick. Anytime you have a fight with heavy movement, always think about how you can improve your dps uptime even better. Take advantage of the Lifetap glyph. Lifetap once every 20 seconds, unless you're under the effect of your Sundial trinket proc. The sundial will give you a buff called "Now is the Time!" You can use an addon called Power Auras to help you manage your buffs. I set my addon to give me a visual when I don't have the "Life Tap" buff, but only in combat. Personally, I enjoy Affliction for most bosses, and 0/40/31 for trash and certain bosses. I played destro for a bit and it was decent. I could at least keep up with the top dpsers. I think destro is a nice medium between boss and trash killing, but not top at either. I would probably only go destro for the utility of mana return. |
