Newly dinged 80 need spec.
Newly dinged 80 need spec Character Name: Elexa Armory Profile: The World of Warcraft Armory Wowhead link of current build in use: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft Wowhead link of proposed build: Im up for anything PvE Play style and Requirements of build: I just dinged 80 and I'm planing on doing heroic aswell as 10/25 man raids. PvP Play style and Requirements of build: I don't need a pvp spec. Additional Information: Well, I just dinged 80 and I want to know what spec you think is best to use if you just dinged. I have almost no hit and I'm up for anything. I can go affli, demo or destro, all three suits me fine. I'm sorry if this has been talked about before but I looked and I cant find anything after the 3.1. The build I got now is just from leveling and something I threw together and it has worked out find for soloing group quests and just mainly questing and grinding. But now I'm looking for a raid/group spec that suits my gear:P Would also be nice if you could say what I should work for as in gear, hit, SP, spirit. Cause I'm not that good with end game stuff as warlock, just been focusing on leveling. Thanks :D |

I would suggest going either 0/40/31 or 0/41/30 depending on how you like to play. If you like pet management go with the later, but if you'd rather not have to worry about a fel guard go with the first. Both are viable beginner specs. You have no hit (according to the armory link, you're still level 79 and have 0 hit) so you need to start working on that. Maybe affliction would be good for you as well, something like 54/0/17.

My recommendation is to run 0/41/30 for a while. Yes, you have to manage the Felguard, but it isn't that difficult (and can be helpful). Make two macros and bind them to hotkeys - one that does /petattack /petdefensive and another that does /petpassive /petfollow and you can easily send him in and pull him out. The rotation is very straightforward and easy to get right because it's just Curse of Agony, Corr, Immolate then Incinerate filler. Weave in soul fire during decimation (under 35%) and you're good to go. The felguard can help because he gives you a personal meatshield if you need it AND he can help take care of adds if necessary. If an add goes for either myself or the healer and isn't noticed by the tank, I'll send my felguard after that add. With 0/40/31 you gain a buff from the imp and you're pet management is easier, but IMHO you lose versatility. (Plus the Felguard looks cool)

Re: Newly dinged 80 need spec.
To add to Zuke, The felguard is also great because he'll keep on doing damage even if you mess up your rotation, meaning there is more margin for error on your part. |

Thanks a lot guys for the fast and good replies:D Yeh, I'm now 41/30 and currently loving my huge crits and the rotation is pretty easy. Thanks for the macro aswell, actually been needing that all the time without me knowing^^ But again thanks for the quick reply and tips, best forum ever:P |

Hey guys My lock is about to hit 80 and I'm wondering about the viability of each build at a 80-blue gear level. Which build will I maximize my DPS as? I have read the numerous threads about 3.1 and 3.1.2 DPS, but I'm not sure if those specs will yield the same ranking at a lower gear level. You guys recommended 41/30 for this guy, but is that recommended because of the most DPS? or because it is easier to play? I've messed around on the PTR with a pre-made characters and have no issue with any of the rotations. Any advice? |

I still recommend 0/41/30 to just about anyone. It is an easy spec to play, but it's also pretty good on damage while in less than best-in-slot gear. The only downside to it is the lack of hit talents, so you need 446 hit from gear.

One key difference is that one does not have the point in Demonic Empowerment, which makes your pet immune to stuns and fears, aswell as it breaks those effects. It also gives some additional dps for your pet. In dungeons like Drak'tharon Keep, or Nexus, the DE spell could be the key thing to prevent you from wiping if you get mass feared. Normally all players will break the fears with some pvp trinken or if like me, the forsaken racial, but your pet will happily stroll away and aggro lots of mobs without possibility for you do do anything about it if you lack the DE. |

I personally would not spec into Demonic Empowerment as it is an active ability you need to keep up compared to the passive ability Demonic Talents. As a new 80, learning new content, why add the headache? The advantage this spec has over a lot of the other raiding specs quoted is that 1) it is easy to learn the rotation, 2) it is more forgiving for locks who are not hit capped, and 3) it benefits the most from raid buffs. Definitely make a pet attack/pet passive hot key for this spec (really for all of them, but definitely this one). |
