Re: Newly dinged 80 need spec.

For levelling I wouldn't take the Mana Feed point from Master Demonologist. Take it from Master Summoner! It will still give you Fel Dom and a very quick cast when you need a new pet, but you won't be losing your pet often enough for this to be a problem.

In terms of DE, if you take this just macro it with pet attack. My macros:

Code:
/petdefensive
/petattack
/cast Demonic Empowerment
Code:
/petpassive
/petfollow
I bind these to mousewheel up and mousewheel down, but substitute for the keys/buttons of your choice. Just FYI, I then bind my view zoom to shift-mousewheel, it works well. The mouse wheel binds make it extremely fast to do something like ping-pong my Felguard on and off the boss in a place like Nexus where I might need to do that. In boss fights, I just roll the wheel up periodically to keep him attacking and keep DE up. If you forget to use DE enough, macro it in with Shadowbolt or something as well, and you'll use it constantly without thinking about it.

Well I have been reading all over for warlock info :P and I made a spec that I think might got some potential, but might also be a total failure.....
My main goal with this spec is to get some nice crits with my two favorite spells Shadowbolt and Soul Fire. Also I went into aff for hit and lifetap :P
(Got Dualspec so I will most likely have 41/30 on the side)

This is the spec I made: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

Would love some feedback :P (No idea if this is the right place for asking this, but well well :P )

3.1 Re: Newly dinged 80 need spec.

About three days ago i dinged 80. Before as i was leveling up i was trying to find a build that was for dps and trying to find the right spell rotation. Well nothing came up. I wasn't too worried about it but now i am because as it stands im totally clueless. This is my first level 80 toon and im very clueless. Another thing my armour is not as good as i wanted it to be. If anyone can give me a few pointers or point me in the right direction then that would be great. I'm very open to the three different specs. So if you have any great builds that have worked please feel free to msg me or reply. Thanks ahead!!!

Re: Newly dinged 80 need spec.

Well you can choose your spec based on what play style you enjoy. Personally, I enjoy Demonology, specifically Meta, so that is my choice. I'll suggest a few builds below, and I'm suggesting things that you might use for Heroics. If you need hit, you may want to try modified builds with a few points in Affliction.

I like slightly modified Meta spec. The modification is I pulled one point out of master summoner and put it in Mana Feed. Solo or even sometimes in heroics, your Felguard may need the mana. Just be sure that when you are grouped, you turn off your Felguard's taunt, it only wastes mana and if it's on you'll sometimes pull aggro with him and get him killed.

Lots of Warlocks have enjoyed a Felguard/Emberstorm build at newly 80 for it's more simple rotation and excellent AoE. You'll still need to run a Decimation execute rotation at maximum range when bosses are under 35% the same as Meta, but with a lot less other complexity than a Meta build.

Both of these buiids I feel are great DPS when you don't have a lot of gear. Meta is complex to play, but when used well I've been able to put up great numbers in Heroics at 80 as I geared up.

Of course there are also pure Destruction or Affliction builds if you prefer those trees. Note that all buiilds should run the Lifetap glyph except deep destruction with Improved Soul Leech. I've included major glyph choices with those talent builds.

For more details on rotations, etc. for each build, you can look here: Simulationcraft on post-3.1 specs - Elitist Jerks

Play the spec you like and learn it well. The specs are all so close in DPS at 80 that you can really pic the play style you most enjoy. It's not until you are well into Ulduar gear where the maximum DPS gap gets big enough to worry about, and at lower gear levels some of the "lesser DPS" specs like Meta are often superior... they don't scale as well with gear, but are more powerful at lower gear levels.

I agree with it being your choice, same here. I've always ran mostly demo, and then at level 70, I went full demo

The World of Warcraft Armory

About 10 days ago, we were in OS and then Naxx and I noticed that when I used my Soul Fire, it was hitting every time in the 9250-11047 range.
The last few days, in the same situations, the soul fire is only hitting for 3460-4360 range.
Any reason why?
I have not changed anything except a wand from Heroic OK.
Can anyone help, or suggest why? Did they alter the spell and I just wasn't aware of it?

Not sure where to put this post, sorry if wrong spot.

Re: Newly dinged 80 need spec.

I would suggest you might try dumping 2 from Imp. Health Stone, and one from Master Summoner to get Demonic Brutality 3/3. So much of our DPS comes from the Felguard, and that's a nice little DPS buff for him.

As for Soul Fire, I'll have to go back and look. It's worth double checking that your are casting Rank 6. Also is it possible that you are seeing the difference between crit/non crit results and those with some proc up like a Sundial trinket proc?
