ok where am i going wrong?
Hey guys, this is my first post and it wont be a surprise that its about my dps. So, i currently raid 25man ICC with my guild as affliction and not that it means anything at all but my GS is around 5543. With raid buffs/trink/pot etc i sit with around 3.5k SP, my haste is a tasty 943 with spellstone, crit is around 23% and i am hit capped. So am i the only one who thinks that hitting between 5-6k DPS and occasionally reaching 7k in 25man ICC is rather pathetic? i can hit 9-10k on AOE trash but that doesnt count. I am aware that i need a new cloak and i have only just put my Eye of the Broodmother back on since i had the opportunity to dump the emblem hit trink. My general rotation is LT rank1x5 (pre-fight for trink+buff), SB, Haunt, UA, pot+NMIC+corr, Curse of Agony, spam SB refresh dots +LT buff when required. And i use the Fel Hunter. My glyphs are Haunt, Life Tap and Quick Decay. Reading all the posts about DPS i cant see where im going wrong here. It does seem rather low, in 10 man it would be understandable but with the plethora of buffs in 25 man I'd expect you to be about 3k higher than that. A few questions: How is your latency? High? Low? Middling? FPS? You don't mention it but I assume you are switching to Drain Soul 25% and below? Do you execute your rotation well? Do you use a dotimer? Are you clipping dots? There's nothing wrong with your gems/enchants so you've definitely done your research. Do you perhaps have a WoL report for us to look at? |

Do you have any logs to show us? It is really hard to say otherwise, as everything you have said seems right and your gear is decent. |

hey guys, thanks for the replies. i dont have any logs as im rather noob-ish in that respect. (have no clue about 'em). As for 25% and below, yes i keep all the dots up and switch to Drain Soul. My latency never goes above 100 (thx leatrix :p) The other lock in my guild runs as aff as well and as far as i know, my stats outweigh most of his yet he seems to out dps me by up to 1k on some occasions. This is particularly frustrating. As far as i know i do my "rotation" well and i dont clip dots. I have the relevant addons to help me from doing so. Drain Soul timer - obvious Life Tapper - obvious Insta-bolt - visual and audio notification on shadow trance Dot-timer (i think.....def something that shows my dots counting down :p) Bartender4 I will have a word with some wise players from my guild who understand logs and see if they can find anything out for me. World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis There you are! Using festergut as it's as close to a tank and spank you get in ICC: For some reason you've used curse of doom, you need to be using curse of agony from the get go as affliction not just when there's less than a minute left as it's stronger than doom for afflocks. Only 75% uptime on Unstable affliction, it can drop off during movement phases but I would expect at least 80% plus, preferably 90% ( I always seem to have to move whenever UA is coming off cooldown too:() Haunt uptime could be better as well, again 90%+. Looking at that you did spend 17 seconds puking from the vile gas:p, whether that's because you were hit with it or people aren't spreading out correctly is for you to tell us, maybe I chose a bad example. You're going about things the right way, I think you just need to work on polishing your rotation and maintaining concentration, and stop casting curse of doom! |

thanks for your help sid. i just started trying out cod for the 1min timer (less recasts to worry about) but will easily switch it out for Curse of Agony again. having checked out a few other afflocks on wow heroes, it appears that i have WAY more haste than some guys who severely outgear me. Should i start dropping some haste for crit (i know its bad, but somewhere i read that anywhere over 600haste and it loses its value and i have 945 w/spellstone) Also should i start getting rid of some of my purified dreadstone for pure SP, just keeping the 2 necessary for my meta? not sure if its worth it tho since most of my sockets boni are for +7sp.......... Bah to it all!! Why are locks so damn frustrating!? :p (love them really) |

I'm pretty sure the 600 'haste cap' only applies to destro due to the shorter cast times involved. Haste is godly for afflocks, don't worry about having too much. I'd keep your gems as they are tbh, the socket bonuses are worth it and you never know when you're going to replace one of those pieces. I'd rather not have to worry about keeping my meta active everytime I get an upgrade. On the CoD/Curse of Agony thing, the proof is in the pudding: Quote:
