Usually run with Firecracker Salmon and Flask of FrostWyrm.
Raid buffs are variable.
What's the problem?
After the patch my DPS seems to have gone down... to the point where I'm getting pointed at in PUG raids as being bad DPS..
It's doing my head in!
I've read through the forums, made various recommended changes etc...
In a 'perfect' fight (i.e. just standing there and pew pew pew) I'm getting about 6700DPS max =(

With numbers in the 10-12K getting thrown around by people I just don't know what's wrong :'

Spells are TRINKET-COE-IMM-CB-CON-INC-CORR-BOD-INC-INC-INC (refresh dots when needed and use CB and CON when off cooldown. INC for filler.

So now I don't know if I'm getting around right for my gear, or if I've done something wrong - or what - but it's starting to really get me down I can tell you...

What can I do?

well... to start with,

no tier pieces at all. 4 piece rocks, dont get the legs.
your miles over hit cap, you need 17% not 19
dont gem for haste only.

20intel in red
10intel/10haste yellow.
i put 20hit gems in my blue sockets

reforge hit/crit/spirit to get hit capped then maxed haste. If the item has haste on it already then go for mastery.

you defo want to loose shard of the crystal heart. Theres in intellect justice points trinket thats quite good or abyssal rune from trial of the champion 5 man normal is easily farmable.

i havnt played destro since the patch so will let somebody else look at your rotation.

Re: On the brink of giving up.......

Flyingade . . .

Thanks - Being over the hit cap came from my gear alone (no hit gems).. I thought there wasn't much I could do about it but reforging is here! So some hit has been reforged to haste =)
I regemmed (I don't know where I got the "haste > intellect" idea from - but it was a blog/thread from somewhere)
I know about the shard - and my main hand is in need of an update as well but so far I have been unlucky with drops...
Anyway... after the tweaks did some tests on the training dummy and my average DPS has gone from 6.7K to 9.4K =)

Re: On the brink of giving up.......

good to hear! however its that hit trinket thats screwing you over. theres a +intel trinket from emblems... err i mean justice points or abyssal rune from totc5 man normal.. yes it is only a lvl200 trinket but it still kicks arse compared to shard.

either of those trinkets would be a big upgrade on shard as your so far over hitcap.

then you can replace those pretty useless purified dreadstones (spirit = 0 now) with +hit gems, reforge for exact hit cap job done.

you could also replace the enchant on your boots with tuskars vitality (stam+run speed)

You are missing Soulfire from your rotation. You need to use either a long cast Soulfire, an imp-procced one, or a shard procced one whenever the soulfire buff expires. That 15% haste makes all the difference in the world. After you cast CoE, BoD, and Corr, if the imp hasn't procced you a SF then you need to cast a shard+SF to get the buff, then you get a real fast IMM and CB, then CON. 1-2 Incinerates and refresh Corr, soulfire(however you can), conf, and imm or CB if it's up. The rotation will not stay the same like it used too. You have to keep the dots up and keep the soulfire buff up working in CON, INC, and CB as you can. Also don't hesitate to throw out your guardian demon on bossfights. It's all extra dps. I usually bring him out early in the fight.

Another thing is CoE doesn't scale with your trinket(s). It's flat rate. So why waste the global cd of CoE with a trinket active? Use it first, THEN pop the trinket. Never pop a cooldown unless it is followed by something that does direct dps.

I usually hit CoE>Doomguard>Blood Fury>Trinket macroed in with Corr>BoD>Soulfire(shard if imp hasn't procc'ed one)>IMM>CB>CON>INC and then watch for expirations and cooldowns. That get's me 20k+ on Saurfang and 11k+ on target dummies self-buffed.

Doomguard benefits from trinkets, procs, and cooldowns so you should be casting DG after all of your precasted buffs.

CoE>Doomguard>Blood Fury>Trinket macroed in with Corr>BoD>Soulfire

This rotation is... Terrible. Guardians don't attack unless there is a bane on the target which means your DG is standing still for 3-4s at minimum + runtime.

Re: On the brink of giving up.......

From your rotation im guessing you meant
CoE>Doomguard>BoD(macroed to Bloodfury trinket)>Imm>CB>Con>Inc

if this is the case then its pretty moot whether you're losing dps over the order of 2 insta-casts. Personally i would have done CoE>BoD(with BF macro) then Doomguard but meh..it wouldn't really matter either way imo.

i would change the last part of your rotation and see how it goes..try this instead as a starter rotation

(primarily for bosses)
CoE>CoR>BoD(BF macro)>Doomguard>SB>SF>Immo>Conflag>CB>Incin>Incin >Incin (rinse and repeat starting from Immo ..re-dot where needed)

this way you start off slow (giving tank time to get threat) then by the time your first SB goes off followed by an immo then a burst conflag you should be caught up to any potential rival dps'ers. The following fast incinerates should put boost you quite a bit

4.0 Re: On the brink of giving up.......

Thanks to all for the great advise and ideas.
I've been soaking it all up, making various tweaks and watching Spellman's vid on youtube.

So now I'm running :-
Trinket - Soul Fire - COE - Immo - Conflage - Doomguard - BoD - Corr - CB - Incinerate as an opener, then popping things as they come off cooldown and Soul Fire whenever improved imp procs or I have soulburn ready and have to move..

DPS now up to 12K on Fester, Rotface and Prof so I'm a happier 'lock

Still got work to do to get consistency up on fights where I have to move around more, but at least I don't feel like I totally suck anymore..

thanks again guys =)

It's only for two instant casts and one global between them. Also he doesn't run. He sits back and casts. I didn't know he scaled with me however so I can move him up a few spots in rotation. I just found it easier to get him out before hand so everything else flowed better. I suppose as long as I'm destroying everyone I raid or party with, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.
