Hey ... wot bout res?
the fire spells shouldn't be preferance as they are core to the warlock skills. here are the three main reasons, the way i see it. 1) right now there are more shadow resistant mobs than fire resistant ones. if you don't have those fire spells then good luck. 2) your most powerful DoT is Immolate. it has a direct damage portion that can do both critical damage and extra damage from whatever +fire damage stuff/skill you have. on top of that the DoT portion of Immolate will have a boost in the overall damage over time. so if you have +5 fire damage then you will see an extra 1 point of fire damage per tick (assuming it's 5 ticks) 3) the only AoE spells you have are fire based. Rain of Fire and Hellfire. these can be essential in groups. so whatever you do, don't avoid the fire spells. you may not use them as much as shadow spells but they are still necessary to the warlock. |

Hey ... wot bout res?
One thing i noticed in playing diablo 2 (sorry i always use that as an example, its my only rpg online experience) is that the resistances get all too familiar and tedious, so i thought, why dont they swap around the resistances within creature types every patch (apart from the obvious ones; like for example venom lord might be resistant to poison, hence the name)? It would make the game fairer and people would not always have to build characters to combat a certain area, although i know that people will be able to follow multiple diverse disiplines and conquer resistances eventually... |
