Re: Huge Drain Life nerf on the way
As stated before Death Coil, Drain Life and Siphon Life, unlike priest's Vampiric Embrace, are not heals. My gimped lock has some +damage and healing hear, (around +450 healing) that affects bandage effects. If they were heals, the "healing part" was affected by +healing. For instance, according to spellbok, VE "heals" the party. That is different from DC, DL and SL, that are "leech" effects, affected by shadow damage. They "transfer" life to the caster. I agree that in mass fight these are owerpowered spells: a lock can do a macro that spams Sifon Life on several targets, getting a nice amount of heals per tick. And DL the one with more life for good measure. But in 1v1 every warrior or rogue are immune to fear, can interrupt or reflect or pummel or become immune to magic damage. And dish out a great deal of damage, that us clothies can not counter in any way. How are we supposed to survive a melee attaking us? 1 death coil every 2 mins? And, hamstring is a strongest snare (50% speed reduction for 15 secs, no cooldown other than gcd, no effect reduction if reapplyed) than CoEx (30% reduction for 12 secs, 50% once in 3 mins), and to apply that we have to give up a dot, or a CoW that can somehow mitigate melee damage. About LOS cryers: Sifon Life is a dot. Once is casted, it keeps working like rend, or rupture, or the dot part of a Fire Shock. Drain Life is a channeled spell. Channeled spells, if they don't break or get out max range, require to stand still to be casted. So you will stand still, being healed for 220 per thick. The melee class you are draintanking will never do pillar dancing to avoid a drain life: he will eat the 200 damage per tick per 5 ticks, and unload a instand whirlwind or eviscerate or windfury on your face for at least 2K damage. Even if they added LOS effect on DL, you will hardly notice. :/ BTW i am not a whiner, and i am not doing any "IQUIT" thread. But i liked to express my point. |

Re: Huge Drain Life nerf on the way
Just curious, but how many of lock have you know that bother with DL in arena or BGs when the target hasn't been feared or CCed in some fashion? I admit in some instance I have used DL in desperation against a rogue who could have kicked my ***, but he instead tried to simply beat me down. Didn't work since I have my Curse of Agony, Corr, SL, and was DLing when not stunned. Simply put, locks who DL can easy be killed if dealt with accordingly. (I've once been killed by a pally to my shame.) To those who say it's a "fix" rather than a nerf, L2P please. But we are getting a secondary nerf and I say it's a nerf because it is. The 2/5% damage added per affliction spell on target changed to simple 2/4% damage increase. Looking at this from health gained angle...it's a nerf. Looking at it from a dps angle...wtf? Who uses DL to deal damage? The only time I have ever really used DL to "damage" something is the Netherspite fight where I DL in-between refreshing dots to help the healers out. Other than that, can anyone think of an instance where DL has been used for damage? Last edited by Spavian; November 13, 2007 at 12:13 AM.. |
