Shortlock	Crit needed for Destro build? Hi again all, Just wondering what %Crit chance one should have before considering chaning to a Destro build?

Destro is not just about crit, it requires a good a combination of hit, haste, damage, and crit to outpace affliction. Such gear does not become readily available until the t5 gear level.

Yeah, exactly. You can do fine DPS as Destruction as long as you have good spell hit rating, but it isn't until you have an excess of spell crit and you're hit capped (basically full SSC/TK gear) that Destruction DPS really starts out-pacing Affliction. While some people notice a jump in DPS switching to Destruction earlier, it's mainly due to an inability to play Affliction properly.

Shortlock	Re: Crit needed for Destro build? thanks again. I am currently Affliction and I have no trouble at all staying top (or second) on the damage meters. We are currently just starting out in TK & SSC, so I will stay affliction and see how I get on. I do notice I do less damage on thrash, but on boss fights with my DOTS ticking away and SBs I kick ***.

In raid ( with buff and consumable) my crit are about 29 % and my + damage are over 1150 ( +15% because of sac succubus)

In the end... Affliction lock never do more dps than me ( even on fight like VR). But that hae much more utility than me ( Shadow embrace, Malediction, Imp imp) and are a lot more mana-efficient than me...

Shortlock	Re: Crit needed for Destro build? Thanks again, once more loads of helpfull ideas and suggestions, giving me loads to think about and having me wishing I was progressing further. Here is my current build and gear: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sh...er&n=Shortlock I have some other items in the bank (off hand from nightbane, skyguard trinket etc.) that could be used for a destro build, again I can use different gems for that too. Any further thoughts or suggestions are welcomed.

We have a few locks in our guild that where waiting to get upgrades till hyjal/black temple and still did quite nicely on the dps meters. They use shadoweave spellstrike hood/pants tier 4 shoulders and gloves(4 set bonus), or the badges gloves Bracers=havoc/badge/maiden bracers?(havent been in kara forever) trinket=badge trinket and scryers bloodgem or the shifting nexus belt=girdle of ruination or belt of blasting Ring=kara/CE Rep ring Cloak=prince/badge Weapon=prince/season 2 offhand=badges/nightbane wand=underbog wand/aran's wand even the badge wand is nice now all of that is available before even setting foot in a 25 man And Just gem it all with +hit/damage, or +crit/damage gems. Will last you till hyjal/bt(though im sure you'll pick up a few goodies on the way). I suggest staying away from tier 5(shit imo) for the most part, and hold off for t6. Pickup non tier pieces along the way. Such as. Bracers from alar Tier 5 shoulders(yeah lootreaver so not hard to get) Cowl of the grand engineer Boots of blasting Belt of blasting neck off kael Eye of Mags(hotness) Ring from mags(+hit yum) That or any za items rock as well.
