Spell progression for 7/7/47 "Firelock" in PvP?
After 2 years plus of playing WoW, I finally decided to venture into the Battleground's with my warlock, and even respecced to 7/7/47 "firelock" build just for Battleground's (from demonology for PvE.) I'm impressed with the burst damage this build is capable of (even with my sucky gear) but am sure I could be doing much better if my attacks were chained together in a logical order, rather than willy nilly, as I have been. My attacks upon selecting a target usually go something like this: Curse of the Elements, Corruption, Immolate, Conflagrate, Immolate, Searing Pain, Incenerate, Conflagrate again when timer's up. Lather, rinse, repeat until one of us is dead. I hadn't even been using SP all that much before finding this site and reading about that here, it didn't look all that impressive...but then it hit me "Duh...,you're a FIRE lock...all your fire spells hit harder!" Anyhow, any input to help me maximize my damage output on the Battleground's would be much appreciated - well...anything besides "upgrade your gear, lamer!" ... I'm working on that.

Use Shadowfury liberally. It's a fantastic spell. |

Will do, thank you... and does anyone know if my Imps firebolts gain in power from my spec? |

No, a 7/7/47 (unless they pick their talents badly) won't increase the damage on Firebolt. Emberstorm increases the damage your fire spells do, as opposed to your actual spell damage, and your pets scale with your spell damage. The Felhunter is also generally a better pet than an Imp. He's more complicated to use, but it's worth learning how to use him effectively. |

Re: Spell progression for 7/7/47 "Firelock" in PvP?
I'm glad this thread came up as I'm quickly gathering the full Felweave set so that I can spec 7/7/47 and get a change from Affliction. You may well want to at least cast corruption immediately after immolate, that way you will not blow two global cooldowns on casting instant cast spells one after the other. As for casting Conflagrate immediately after your first Immolate, I'd imagine as you gather gear, you would Immolate, Incinerate, Incinerate, Conflagrate, Shadowburn if the target is till alive. Along with Corruption that should be enough to kill a target, sprinkle in Shadowfury and Searing Pain and it will be overkill for the most part. This will be made easier if you get some backlash procs so that you can be more mobile but that obviously depends on the fight and what you're fighting. |

Re: Spell progression for 7/7/47 "Firelock" in PvP?
I really dont like coming up with 'set' spell rotations, especially for PvP. There are far to many variables to work with for me to even consider writing down a spell rotation. Every encounter is different, different classes, different groups etc, all calling for different spells, CC and movement. S Sometimes you can nuke, sometimes you run around like an idiot casing shadowfury and SoC, until you are dead, other times you do nothing but Curse of Tongues and DOTs, it is just silly i think to try and come with a rotation. However....go out find some level 65 mobs and practice spell rotations. Find ones that work for you. In 1v1 encounters in the BG or world PvP, having a practiced spell rotation can save your little Lock butt. Once again, you wont necessarily cast a specific rotation persay, but if you have practiced casting in rapid succession, different spells and have the muscle memory for the keyboard, you will pwn people. If you are unpracticed and just flailing on your keyboard, you will be pwned. Kai |
