Re: 3.0.2 Farming like a Frost Mage
I've done it happily with a Voidwalker or Felguard - aggro mobs (who must, as noted, have less than 6k health or so) and stick CoW on each mob to prevent pet death. Let pet tank mobs for a few seconds to build up aggro, insert 1 x SoC per mob and profit. Its not particularly mana-efficient but it is very quick..as is the ubiquitous "Dot All mobs in range and then Howl of Terror" approach if you're affliction. Curse of Agony + Corruption + SiLi on each mob does the trick (as well as ensuring you have a constant feed of health returns) and you can generally collect 8-10 mobs without any issues. We don't have as many tools as a Frost Mage, but we can do it quite happily as long as we're careful (and remember we generally have more health than a mage so we can happily take a few knocks in lieu of being able to IB/Nova etc).

Re: 3.0.2 Farming like a Frost Mage
Well, with Demo build, I usually send fg, dot, switch my and fg's target, dot, repeat for mob 3 and 4. FG survives due to dots healing him (and demonic resilience), and by the time mobs get off him and come for me they are usually almost dead. 5th or 6th tends to come for me before I switch to second, but intercept can hold it for a few seconds. If everything goes bad, meta, immolation and a seed or two work wonders. I prefer 2 mobs at once only though, I don't have any downtime that way. |

Re: 3.0.2 Farming like a Frost Mage
Since level 71 i have been specced Felguard with Siphon Life. I have found myself pulling between 3 - 7 mobs at a time keeping Siphon Life , Corruption and Curse of Agony on each one and spamming drain life until they die. I just let my felguard hit whatever he chooses in defensive mode. Now i am level 75 i do the same thing but add a shadowflame in when i have all the mobs gathered. |

Immolation Aura + Hellfire is crazy. With a healer you get extreme fast grinding, but the cooldown makes it bad for leveling. |

Re: 3.0.2 Farming like a Frost Mage
The cooldown isn't so bad - it takes me a few seconds to collect all the loot anyway. :D I just keep it to 1 or 2 as I tap back up and get myself topped off. Not as fast as SiLi/FG build, but I'm having fun with it. Also, no healer required - healthstone and keep on trucking. |

Re: 3.0.2 Farming like a Frost Mage
You are using a SS right? Ok, I took the VW out to test him. Howling Fjord has nice packs of shoveltusks. You will find 6-8 close together. I send VW to middle of pack and use Suffering. Great, got their attention, Seed mob 1 Tab & have VW change targets Seed Tab Seed Tab & have VW change targets Seed Tab Seed. First seed will be going off before the last one finishes, but VW should hold onto them long enough for the rest to pop. Might have to manually finish off a few, but no real danger there. Don't get near the Shoveltusks as they do a head but thingy which will daze you. Two big problems:
Much easier to go SL/Felguard and multi-dot multiple mobs. |

Re: 3.0.2 Farming like a Frost Mage
I have not been using seed for the grinding. I do it much like Jinxx's video. I single out one baddie and pull him with siphon life. This is because it lasts longer than the other instant cast dots. Then, corruption (to start the chances for nightfall), then curse of agony. I will have selected the next target and repeat the process on that one. I do not pull too many. I judge the number on how fast my health drops. It should only slowly drop while I am life tapping. If it drops too fast, it can well run away in case of bad adds. I have maintained fights where the respawn rate was just awful and I had 4-8 on me at all times, though they died in under 15 seconds each. I was able to keep fighting in all that for over 10 minutes but they eventually wore me down. Still, there was no use of seeding, though I would have if I had not had so many pummeling me. I did see a horde DK surrounded by a dozen of the beasties and being worn down. It was quite late and my thinking was a bit slow as I decided to save him by using soc on the lot of them. It turns out that a horde is a baddie even if I was trying to help. The explosion of 5 or so seeds left a smoking crater inhabited by only a lot of bodies, including one horde DK and a very red faced warlock. I apologized.

Re: 3.0.2 Farming like a Frost Mage
I personally use the ... fear method. I just do it in an aoe fashion. At level 71 I chose to respec into 51/11/0 . Full affliction + soul link. First mob.Curse of agony> Corruption> SL > Haunt Tab to next target Curse of Agony>Cor> SL ( repeat till you have as many mobs as you are comfortable with) then Howl of Terror. Pull back VW and drain life them as they come at you. If you do this right it will refresh the corruption on each of them saving mana . Also have quite a bit of HoT's coming in from all those Siphon lifes. I have taken on as many as 10 mobs of the same level as me. With little to no worries about dieing. Sometimes they bring freinds back with them which in turn saves me from having to even move from the spot im at. This is just what works for me. And I rather enjoy it. Maybe ill throw in Seed next time and check it out. Just might make me chuckle to them all die at the same time . |

Re: 3.0.2 Farming like a Frost Mage
As a lock there are so many fun ways to farm t just isnt funny anymore.... ?? LOL Depending on what i am farming i change tactics of course. I just farmed a bunch of chilled meat for the dailies. Went for the simple dears. Voidwalker was on the loose withoutthe torent and sufering ( just as a backup for my life but there was no real need. Ill try again later with fel puppy for extra mana on defensive) I just run in a WIDE circle, pass by every dear. SiLi, Cor, Curse of Agony ( of course they are only round level 71 ) and keep running on auto. Start casting when you just pass the critters so they will hardly get any knocks in. When you complete the circle, run it again to loot, and again to kill. A few circles netted me a LOT of meat in under 10 mins. Average 5 kills / min. maybe a bit more. Some life taps here and there, and gone. 30 minutes farming netted me enough meats to do my dailies a few more days :P for cloth i like the dwarves. Send in void, wait for the first torment and dot, target the second etc etc etc. Running the same laps. Get void healed and resume. Also very funny. I also enjoy fellguard farming, but feel it is slower in may cases. Still, i enjoy myself and thats what matters most i guess :P
