Re: Affliction Rotations - post patch
A lot of newly-affliction warlocks are making some easy errors in their rotations. A common one I'm seeing is recasting Corruption. The best method seems to be a multi-tiered rotation. Opener - Pet attack, CoE (Or Doom), Corruption Main Rotation - Shadow Bolt, Haunt, Unstable Affliction, Shadow Bolt Filler, Life Tap (or Dark Pact) You can season to taste...Some locks add Siphon Life, but this seems to lower my DPS in my gear. If another lock has CoE, I'll replace that with Doom. I know Agony scales better, but Doom simplifies the rotation considerably. Your corruption is constantly being reset by Haunt, so you should only ever have to cast it once. Ensure you have a Glyph of Corruption for a stacking extra nightfall proc, and Glyph of Shadow Bolt to reduce your mana consumption. Ideally, your DoT timers should show your haunt refreshing immediately. I open with SB and Haunt to ensure I have two stacks of Shadow Embrace up before my DoTs hit. |

Re: Affliction Rotations - post patch
This is a good rotation. Things may change a little with time and this can not be stressed enough - DOT Timer is a must here! UA locks will have to really work on thier rotation, no sleeping on the job now

Re: Affliction Rotations - post patch
Toying around with Spell rotations against a very patient Feral Druid Ive found that the best rotation (So far) That Ive come across is CoE/COD - Haunt - Unstable Affliction - Corruption - Siphon life - Shadow Bolt Haunt Clip off your own haunt when the CD is up (I know this is supposed to work Ive seen it) Corruption will continue to get refreshed S/L every other rotation. Leaves just enough time to get a full cycle in, and not TERRIBLY difficult to keep up. Just my 2c based on my experience so far.

Re: Affliction Rotations - post patch
Also, change the way you think back to when you were raiding Affliction before SSC/TK... If you are focusing down a single mob as we are used to doing in 0/21/40, you're going to get very little bang for your buck out of your DoTs. I have a second castsequence I use on trash: Curse of the Elements > Siphon Life > Corruption > Unstable Affliction I'm rarely on the focus target, and usually tossing my fast-casts up on the other offtanked mobs. If they're all reasonably low-health mobs, they should be being AE tanked anyway, and seeded down. For large single-target trash, like the bots on the way to Illidari Council, or in Sunwell, I use my boss rotation. Your strength lies in the fact that you have your DoTs ticking away on 3 or 4 mobs at a time. |

For raiding I've been working on a two-tiered DoT rotation, where I start with Macro1 and then keep the DoTs up with Macro2. I have some questions about it after but here are the rotations: Macro1 Haunt > Curse of Agony (i raid with a CoE lock) > UA > Corruption > Siphon Life + SB when it permits. Macro2 Haunt > UA > Curse of Agony + SB when it permits So the question I have is: Should Haunt be cast first so subsequent DoTs get the 20% boost? Has anyone tried sneaking in Immolate? I tried throwing it in and I got a slight decrease in DPS. Maybe it's a placement thing? It also adds to an already big juggling act. Please critique. I'm not in love with it, it's just what I cooked up. Looking at it now, I should try dropping Siphon Life which would let me maybe sneak in an extra SB. I should also add that I have the Corruption glyph and am looking for a SB glyph or a Curse of Agony glyph. Oh and if people want I can post the macro for these later. WoW isn't accessible just this second for me

Re: Affliction Rotations - post patch
Hi guys, I have been toying with spec's getting ready to get back into Sunwell this Sunday. I have spec'd Afflic and am still toying with adding immolate for an additional DoT, thoughts? Current Rotation is Haunt, UA, Curse of Agony, Corup,Sip Lif, Immo, refresh repeat most time there is only time for 1 SB or DC or Incin |

Re: Affliction Rotations - post patch
Is Siphon Life *really* useful post-patch? It used to heal me for 75 per tick, now it only does 15 per tick. Seems pretty useless. It no longer causes Shadow Embrace to function (Haunt and Shadow Bolt do that now). I did a 53/0/8 spec, with the Corruption Glyph and Shadow Bolt Glyph. On trash (in a heroic yesterday), I've been doing: CoE -> Corruption -> Haunt Followed by either Shadow Bolt, Haunt or Life Tap (usually after the first Shadow Bolt but before Haunt heals me), repeat until the trash is dead. On major mobs: CoE (or other curses) -> Corruption -> Haunt -> UA Fill in with SBolt, Haunt refresh, Life Tap, Drain Life On AoE stuff: Corruption -> Haunt -> Seed of Corruption -> Rain of Fire I never ran out of mana - ever. Never had to drink (between Life Tap and Haunt). My DPS went up about 30-40% when I added Shadow Bolt back into my rotation (vs not using it at all). Corruption ended up being 30% of my damage with SBolt at around 25% by the end of the heroic dungeon. Going to try it out tonight in a raid. I think Haunt should be cast 2nd after Corruption. The 1st tick of Corruption doesn't happen for 3 seconds. So there's time to cast Haunt after Corruption. Which gives you time to squeeze in UA, Shadow Bolt and a Life Tap before the first Haunt heal comes back after 12 seconds. Are we sure that Glyph of Corruption stacks with the Nightfall talent? |

Re: Affliction Rotations - post patch
If you spec destro, Immo can do some nice damage. But as affliction it will lower your overall dps. You're far better off using the spare time to fire off another SB or something. Go have a spin on the target dummies in SW and you'll see

Re: Affliction Rotations - post patch
My rotation is thus: Haunt, Curse of Agony, UA, Corruption, Immo, Siphon Life, SB x2, then start it all over casting SB whenever the chance presents itself. I found that I never, ever, ran out of mana or dipped below 90% health because of Haunt. Last night in raid, I was pushing 970 dps in t4 gear, and was #2 on the dps chart behind a rogue with better gear. What I've found is that, like previous posters, corruption really is only cast once with Haunt resetting it, and the biggest rotation problems I have are between Haunt and UA competing for refreshes. The biggest change I've seen in how I've been playing is that I'm refreshing dots a lot more than pre-patch. I used to dot the thing up, cast SB 3 or 4 times, then do the whole rotation over. Now I'm dotting, maybe getting 2 SB in if I didn't have to run away from something, and refreshing more dots. I've been wondering about fiddling with it and casting haunt more toward the end of the rotation. Is there some mechanic that I'm unaware of that would make this have a negative impact on dps? |
