shot rotation

After hours of sifting through all the info on specs after the patch, I have respecced to destro from Affliction. I have never played as a destro lock before - what is a good spell rotation to use both for leveling or trash mobs and for bosses? I appreciate any help on this subject

i just grabbed the talent because i've always had it. never heard that it was getting nerfed. i loved it before, but now that point may be better spent just like imp life tap and/or dark pact. i'll have to look into that.

The Siphon Life issue is because I was a noob lock and forgot to visit my Warlock Trainer after the patch. So I was running around with rank 1 in Siphon Life...

LOL... yeah I raided SWP on Tuesday with Rank 1 Chaos Bolt, I didn't even think about extra ranks!

If you search the Si-Li spell on wowhead there is a post there saying that it is affected by you +spell power, ie. +5sp adds 5 health. Not sure if this is true, as that would mean I'm getting 1250ish health. Haven't checked it out live but the post was green, so maybe it is right, in which case SiLi is a muct have.

on trash i'm normally bolting, that or I'll throw up corruption and bolt. in Hyjal ZA and Kara i spam seed exclusively.

on boss I normally go CoE => Haunt => UA/Cor => immo/SL => bolt / LT=> start from haunt again. we don't have a moonkin and DK isn't out yet so yea...

SL is a bit iffy, i don't see much fluctuation in my dps number with and without it but it's early days and I need more raid hrs under my belt with these talents

what's your spellpower and what kind of DPS were you pulling? I'd love to know what kind of damage your rotation was doing and what I should be expecting in my gear.

self buffed i have
1300 shadow damage
16% crit
17% hit

( figures rounded up )...

pre patched I regemmed some of my orange haste / damage to just pure damage +12... i don't think that was bad choice since haste is still largely useless to us but i'm also not sure how much pandemic is worth ( ie maybe X% of crit is better after Y level of spelldmg etc etc )

usual raid comp has mages, restoration shammy and 1 or 2 spriest. no boomkin or ret pally atm.

boss dps is 1600-1800 I think, was trying to find a WWS report but apprently the thing is borked? Will double check with guildmate and I'll checkout recount this sunday assuming we raid and I'm on my lock

I'm under the impression that you can cast Haunt after dots have been applied, and those ticks wills till get the 20% bonus.

If thats the case, then these rotations with early Haunt casts seem like a waste. You'll have a lot of down time where you're casting and that 20% bonus isn't affecting anything.

So I'd definitely think about rotations the use Haunt 3rd or 4th on the list. Like UA/Immolate /SiLi/HauntThen you can throw an improved curse of agony, and an instant cast corruption afterward. That haunt will go through all those dots I'm sure and they will all do 20% more damage.


My question is- When haunt returns to you, does it give you back the initial damage of the dot that is part of Haunt, or does it give back to you that amount PLUS the 20% damage it did?
