Re: new rotation for heavy demon builds?

ok i know this isn't realy a suggestion on a new rotation for you but as you can see my talent points are distributed a little differently to yours.... i will admit that my specc is not a complete one as i will have a full demo tree at level 80 but for now i'm curious....

why have you not chosen to get ruin asap...did i miss something? i hit and crit harder than i did prepatch...infact my dps is a fair amount higher (from 1.4k up to 1.6k/2k) and as far as i can tell Meta yealds a bigger dps increase when coupled with ruin than it does with out it whilst ruin provides a big dps boost anyway.

Plus i noticed that there has been no mention of what your pet is doing whilst you are doing your rotation....what of the new spell for him...it is very usefull and afterall isn't your pet what Demo is all about?

As i understand it both pre and post patch destro locks critted harder and more often (although their rotation has changed alot too), so inorder to make Demo worth it's space you needed to have a higher base damage for your spells and needed to be able to hit faster too (all accompanied by a healthy amout of crit rating and hit capped) demo locks also come with the added bonus of survivability which makes us less of a tax on the healers.

I'm assuming that you have Meta with this build so my question is what are you doing with it...assuming that you use it every time the cooldown is up what spells are you using? are you making the full benefit for the powerful aura? (ok so the range is small but why would you have 600% armour if not so you could get closer to the boss and not die)

My spell rotation goes like this...send in pet > corruption (both for the glyph and the 2 part t6 set bonus) > Demonic Empowerment > trinket and sb spam...all the while watching my pet's health and monitoring my cds... i'm lucky in that one of our other locks has improved CoE so i don't need to think about it any more....however with meta i would fit in the transformation along with demonic leap and immolation aura inorder to make full use of it's bonus'.

Sorry of the long post i just wanted to put those thoughts out there.

Re: new rotation for heavy demon builds?

Yes I am still considering Ruin and also trying to figure out which is the optimal demon build raiding spec with Felguard.

In your 15 pts in the destro tree are you using ISB or Molton core or a combination of both? ISB with bane was essential pre-patch now the ISB talent seems to be kind of weak.

Debating if it should be 0/56/5 0/53/8 or 0/46/15 Meta is really cool but If I can get my shadow bolts back up to hitting what it was before or better id give it up.

Just want 1 excellent demo raiding build with Felguard and 1 good imp destro build and I'll be set.

Re: new rotation for heavy demon builds?

Molten Core isn't really worth it for a Demonologist warlock.

I've tested it, and barely got Incinerate to the 'same' level as SHadowbolt. In that respect you'd be better off taking improved shadowbolt.

As for 'rotation'. It depends. I don't stick to any one rotation. I usually cast the standard dots if there is time, otherwise I spam shadowbolt.

Though I only have Bane in Destruction.

DPS Spec Best one?

Look I enjoyed being at the top (or atleast 2nd) in DPS in my raids. I have fallen a few spots since this last patch. I am full afflic lock. Is there anyone that uses fire (destructo) spells and having an increase in DPS? Grant you I do believe dps would go up 200-300 DPS if not for the global cool downs being wasted on lifetapping so much. Maybe with some spirit gear in Wrath of the Lich King I will go back up to top of charts. I hate 2nd or 3rd place. With a flask and normal food buffs and such I was able to keep my 1440 bonus damage that I had previously before the patch. OOOO one more question. Sometimes I have corruption reset it self if I use haunt spell.. Someone explain how that works...

Re: Post Patch DPS and Rotation assistance thread.

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

PVE

Trash- Seed of Corruption as we have good pally tanks and lots of AoE. ;)

Boss- SB, Haunt, UA, Curse of Agony, Corr, Immolate, SL, SB, refresh Haunt, UA SB and juggle the dots

I do SB and then Haunt to get the stacking Shadow Embrace.

The specc is good dps on bosses, but really ineffective on trash right now. Juggling dots gets taking use to. Felhunter dies on some bosses (a no go on Archimonde and Azaglor and didn't use him on Kaz'rogal).

Here is a dps link. First night of raiding post patch. Was still trying to my rotation down. #4 overall on dps. 3/4 people t6 geared, 1/4 t4/t5 geared. Rebuilding our raiding group.

Re: Post Patch DPS and Rotation assistance thread.

This is just theory - plan to try it out tonight.

Having finally laid to rest my beloved SL/SL and all of it's instacast goodness...I figured I better start concerning myself with spell rotations. I mainly PvP but don't see why this wouldn't work for PvE even better due to the fairly favorable and anticipated conditions.

I attempted to create this rotation so that it provides max DPS for a Haunt specced Affliction lock (w/amplify curse). This is also for an "ideal encounter" - that is: one in which we are able to CC our opponent and/or avoid interruptions and pushbacks and expereince minimal misses, resistances and lag. Granted, we rarely see this "ideal" encounter but the closer we can keep to it, the more DPS from your dots.

This rotation gets off all of your instant cast dots first, then applies UA and finally Haunt - which, as you can see in the chart below, will be applied with all other dots for the entire duration, increasing DPS and the resultant heal from the Haunt.

Here is my spec. (53/8/0)

Here is my rotation.

Also, I'd highly reccomend this glyph if you don't already have it. I don't know if it's a bug or what but I am shadowtrancing like a mad man with this baby. I've always had nightfall (4% chance at shadow trance with corruption and drain life) the glyph increases that chance by 100% (4%). I'm assuming they stack and give you a 8% chance but it seems like I am trancing far more often than 2x the amount I was before the Glyph and it doesn't even apply to drain life like Nightfall.

I welcome your thoughts/suggestions on either the rotation or the build.

Re: DPS Spec Best one?

You need to read your talent descriptions. Really. You need to read them. In particular:

Everlasting Affliction Rank 5
Your Corruption, Siphon Life and Unstable Affliction spells gain an additional 5% of your bonus spell damage effects each time they inflict damage, and your Drain Life and Haunt spells have a 100% chance to reset the duration of your Corruption spell on the target.

Also note, Blizzard's intent is to have all DPS classes equally competitive. There is no more guaranteed first-place just because you're playing a warlock. I think that's only fair.

Of course, they also hinted that they put their balance priorities at level 80, so...I can only suggest not to worry too much about dps rankings at 70.

Re: Post Patch DPS and Rotation assistance thread.

Well I like the chart but there is a serious loss of DPS occurring with your rotation. I would start with a SB to get the SE effect up then go into haunt to gwet the extra damage on your dots. I then use corruption, UA, then Curse of Agony. then SB fillers or LT. I am still playing around but one of the great things about haunt is the 20% dot buff. stack the SE and thats even more. you want that up to fully buff your other dots first. Just my opinion.

Re: Post Patch DPS and Rotation assistance thread.

That would be great if specced with SE...unfortunately, I'm not. Specifically for PvP, I like the ability of being mobile for the most part especially from the start - hence the insta casts. But I appreciate the input. For someone specced SE, that would be a great addition to the rotation - especially for PvE.
