Re: Post Patch DPS and Rotation assistance thread.

So if I am reading these posts correctly the old Destro raiding is gone ( Dot SB spam, rinse and repeat)? Post patch it seems to be all about fire spells now over the shadow. this is what I have been doing in my crappy gear...

Pet>CoE>corrupt>immu>CB>SB spam>conflag at end of immu...

Should I not be using corrupt and SB?

Re: Post Patch DPS and Rotation assistance thread.

Kursez,

If you are going with the type of fire build such as 0/3/58,

I wouldn't recommend using CB before incin if immolate is up. You are wasting a cast on something that doesn't get affected by having immolate up.

My rotation has been:

Curse of Agony > Corruption > Immo > Incin x whatever (haste affected) > Conflag > CB

I'm not the best geared, but i'm getting about 1800 dps self buffed, which isn't much less, if any than what i was getting as 21/40 SB spam. with raid buffs, it scales really well with the crit, and you will see some nice DPS.

I think people are concluding however that at level 70 with the current changes to talents, that Felguard/ruin is still the superior spec. I have a feeling that will change once level 80 happens and we have access to new gear that has spirit (since Fel Armor is now affected by it). Good luck to you tho, try it out, see if you like it. It's all about your play style.

Re: Post Patch DPS and Rotation assistance thread.

Currently i am running 5/13/43 with BT/Hyjal gear. I run 1800-2k dps in raids which is usually in the top 2 on the meter. Fast trash mobs i do a little less as we take time to get max damage but my AoE rivals mages now. I took conflag and shadowburn for burst dps since mobs die so quickly. Affliction is nice but mobs die to quickly to be effective.

I have tried the other specs with conflag and chaos bolt in the rotations. tried them on dummies, in raid and farming. I was not impressed with conflag or chaos bolt at all.

My advice for an effective spec is to simplify a bit. Theres plenty to do in raids with trying to avoid fire, life tapping, healing yourself, etc. This is my rotation and it works very well so far - Curse of Agony, immolate, Corruption, incinerate spam. I refresh the dots as they come up and i conflag only when mob is about to die and shadowburn after conflag if it's not dead or immolate isn't up. simple, easy and good dps.

Hopefully our dps will rival everyone elses at 80 but only time will tell. good luck!

Re: Post Patch DPS and Rotation assistance thread.

I have read several posts about affliction here in the Den, and I've got my spell rotation down to:

SB>Haunt>UA>Immo>Corr>Curse (either agony, elements or doom)>SL>SB spam

I can pull 1953dps on the boss dummy. However, it seems when I am in a Heroic or on the 2 bosses I fought in Naxx, I'm getting about 1.2-1,.4k dps (and sometimes lower if i have to take on adds). My dot uptime is between 88%-96%. I really and truly feel like I'm doing something wrong when I see several other locks getting 2kdps easy in Naxx with similar gear.

Here is my link to the armory. I am hitcapped, and with Fel Armor and my felpuppy out I have 1762sp.

Re: Post Patch DPS and Rotation assistance thread.

Not yet started in affli but I think your talent point are wrong.
Not taking ruin is a mistake cause it's one of the biggest dps upgrade.
3 points in erradiction is useless. There are tons of post explaining that 1 points is enough due to the 30 sec internal cd. Dark pact + improved fellhunter is useless as you achieve better mana regen with LT+haunt. So no need to waste those 3 points.
So the common affli build with fellhunter is :
World of Warcraft Europe - Calculateurs de talents
Removed one point from improved drain soul to put in isb.
Note that if I was sure that I would not put coe then I would transfer one point from ids to improved agony.

Note that there is an imp version of the build which use Immolation,MC and improved imp. Don't remind me exactly where to put point.

Very important. Do you think using DS executing when target is <25% health ?
The last rank of the DS is multiplied by 4 with this condition so some reports 8k-12 per tick(every 3 sec less with haste) due to soul siphon buff with dot. This is a major dps increase.

Hey thanks! I'll try out this new spec, was just using DS today earlier at the end of each mob after reading yet another post.

Having major dps issues

I am unsure what I am doing wrong atm. My rotation is spot on with no dot not being on the target, and haunt issued every cooldown.

Yet I am struggling to out dps our guilds tank.

Gear wise I have found little better for me in quests and instances so far....and really dont know how to fix this issue I am having.

Will post armory link shortly.....armory is down.

Re: Having major dps issues

well, I guess the main question is...are you checking damage meters for an entire run, or just for the boss fights? Trash is always going to be terrible for affliction, but most people know that. Your gear needs some work, but that'll come with time.

Rotation, to immo or not to immo

Last night in Nax Hc I tried the affliction rotation with immo and without immo. Both on Patchwerk

In our first try i sustained about 3.7k dps with immolate in the rotation:

H-sb-ua-immo-cor-Curse of Agony-sl

We wiped at +- 8%, some tank healers DCd

In our second try and kill, I managed to sustain about 4.0-4.1k dps without immolate in the rotation.

H-sb-ua-cor-Curse of Agony-sl

In my case immo isn't worth casting at all. The thing is, I'm using the isb version of the haunt/ruin spec, rather than the Imp/MC version. My pet of choice in this case is the felhunter of course.

Has anyone tried the Haunt/Ruin spec with MC and the imp out? If so, what is your experience on it?

I'm wearing three pieces of tier 7 and 4 of tier 6.

Do you have a link to your armory?

What are you doing on trash and what is your overall DPS for the raid (taking out boss fights where we obviously shine)?
