Improved Shadow Bolt

Talent information: Talent Tree: Demonology, Tier 1 Requires: Minimum level 10... Your Shadow Bolt critical strikes increase Shadow damage dealt Ranks: Rank 1: Your Shadow Bolt critical strikes increase Shadow damage dealt by 2% until 4 non-periodic damage sources are applied. ISB and DOTS
In Wrath of the Lich King, does ISB increase the damage of dots? I have read it and it looks like it does. I have read some various posts on different forums that say it only affects direct damage. Just want to make sure I have a correct understanding. |

It doesn't. It affects Shadowfury, Shadow Bolt, Shadow Burn, Death Coil and the initial hit of Shadow Flame. No other spells receive the benefit of this debuff. The buff for damage for periodic spells is Shadow Embrace. |

Here's the latest in 3.1 - Improved Shadow Bolt Rank 5 Increases the damage done by your Shadow Bolt spell by 5%, and your Shadow Bolt causes your target to be vulnerable to spell damage, increasing spell critical strike chance against that target by 5%. Effect lasts 30 sec. Part 1 - easy to read and understand, although one could be unsure as to whether the +5% SB damage modifier happens all the time, or only while the SB vunerability/30sec debuff is applied. A nuance to check on. Part 2 - this needs some testing from an Affliction build perspective, unless someone knows the answer and can chime in - this 5% spell critical strike chance, does this also help Pandemic for Corruption/UA crit chance? While there is no longer the 'only applies to non-periodic damage', you have to wonder if they really got Pandemic to grab Crit from all sources. thoughts?

It helps your crit rate on Corruption and UA. All of the raid crit buffs help your dots. It's the reason that my Corruption and UA have a 40% or greater crit rate while my character sheet crit rate is only 19% |

Just to confirm, ISB is still only beneficial to the lock casting it correct? (In other words, mages wont benefit from it?) I ask, b/c I know it got changed to a self buff (vs raid debuff) awhile back, But a mage is telling otherwise. I am 90% sure he is going off of BC info, just wanted to maek sure. |

I think the talent is great, at least if I'm understanding it correctly. In fact, it's the primary reason that I start my spell rotations with SB. +5% crit rate on everything I cast? And everything that anybody ELSE casts? A destro build is, as far as I've seen, very crit-centered, at least in low-mid levels (I'm only level 32 on this destro lock). Now that I think about it I wonder, and I'm not at my WoW computer to check, but the way that the tooltip is worded makes me think that it is a debuff applied to the target, so that anyone casting spells at the target would gain the bonus, even random passersby not in your party. Is that true or am I misinterpreting it?

Quick question: I respecced to include ISB (00-13-58), only I seem to be unable to find evidence of the 5% Crit increase ANYWHERE! FYI: My current rotation is LT>IMMOL>(CORR)>CONFLAG>CB>SB>INC (x2 or so)... I have watched the current UI, have added(*) add-ons like Dr.Damage and Proclulas, have perused over the recount logs and have run numerous dummy-tests and real raiding to see if the effect is indeed proccing, but no luck!
