Re: Dual-spec for raiding ?

Being able to switch specs "in the field" would be over-powered.

But I don't think Blizzard has talked about how it will work at all, except that they are working on it and that it will occur in a patch after Wrath.

I'm fine with a small fee of a few gold and having to go back to the trainer to switch. Because that would be worlds better then the current situation where you're spending 30-50g per re-spec and you have to remember your talents. Or use an addon like Talented.

(I plan on having a PvE/PvP build and a raiding build that I can switch to before planned raids.)

Re: Dual-spec for raiding ?

Well, i replied in my guild with what you're saying now (just not the respec in mid fight thing ), but they are 3 hardcore believers that we are gonna be able to have all time acces to 2 different specs. In a locks case it could be affl for boss fights and destro for trash f.i.. I am not saying this is true, and i am on the disbeliever site, but i just want to bring correct info to my guild, cos now i might be saying that it is impossible, and when we load Xpac i turns out to be true after all

Ahhhhhhhhhh.

I thought you meant a complete respec. Yes they said there will be a dual-spec feature in a later content patch of Wrath of the Lich King. There's a video on it here: Dual Spec WOTLK

Re: Dual-spec for raiding ?

I like the dual spec idea, love it actually, but being able to do it w/o some minor trouble like going back to town would be beyond OP. If a shammy can be elemental and do mass dps one fight, and switch to heal spec as it's needed for the next fight... there's no reason to take any pure classes along, ever.

WRONG. People keep whining about these kinds of things, and it just isn't the case.

The worst possible encounter design would assume 4 tanks 8 healers and 13 DPS. That's it. That means up to 13 of your DPS can be pure classes and you can still account for the gamut of raid design. This group could swap specs to anything from this 4/8/13 setup to a brutallis 2/8/15 or an Illidan 3/8/14 or a Gorefiend 1/7/17. Regardless, you have 13 spots that can be occupied by pure DPS without in any way limiting your options mid-raid. Numbers don't lie.

Not for me, I have spend a lot more gold per day at 70 respeccing my warlock than my druid or my firend's paladin (which i also manage).

SL/SL spec was an epic fail to raid, at one point i was respeccing 3 times a week...
