Lightbulb Making the Aff. Rotation Less of a Monster

As we all know, the Affliction Rotation is pretty much watching a timer mod and squeezing Shadow Bolts in where possible. We have to manage

Code:
UA
SiL
CoX (Agony, Elements, Doom, Recklessness, Weakness)
Immo
Haunt
Shadow Bolt
Life Tap
Corruption has already been effectively removed from the rotation, and I would like to propose simplifying further.

My idea is to add UA and SiL to the Everlasting Affliction talent, as these have no benefit from being on the mob for a long time without a refresh like Curse of Agony, and they are, after all, DoTs from speccing deep Affliction.

The new spells needing to be recast would look like this:

Code:
Immolate
CoX (Agony, Elements, Doom, Recklessness, Weakness)
Haunt
Shadow Bolt
Life Tap
Which is, in my opinion, much more manageable, and would enable an Affliction Warlock to look up from the dot timer every now and again to check for fire or see the encounter.

Now I would welcome a discussion, needless to say I personally think this would be a great change, but then I would, wouldn't I

This is just me personally and I think the thing here is, everyone is different. But currently my rotation is (for PVE):

Haunt
UA
Corruption
Curse of Agony
SiL
Dark Pact

For longer fights, I'll add in Shadow Bolts. I don't even use immolate now, except for shadow resistant mobs.

I'm not sure why you think Corruption is useless now? I've probably missed a thread somewhere explaining this

Corruption isn't "useless," it just refreshes automatically with Haunt casts so you only have to cast corruption once (this, of course, is only true if you have 5/5 Everlasting Affliction). Quite the contrary, btw, as Corruption is where more than half my solo PvE damage comes from (1k+ ticks! Woo!)

I still have a problem with casting Haunt first. You're not getting the 20% bonus for any current DoTs. By casting it later in your rotation, you are getting more of a benefit, because any DoTs on the target will be affected instantly by the Haunt when its applied, instead of you having to spend time casting those DoTs AFTER Haunt has been applied. Also, casting Haunt after Corruption means that you're essentially casting 2 spells for the price of one, corruption resetting as Haunt hits.

Just my thoughts

When raiding, I prefer to begin my rotation with CoE, then Corruption, followed by Haunt, UA/Immo (macro'd together since they share a common duration) and lastly SL.

My preference to start with CoE/Corr allows me to move into postition while starting my rotation. I also prefer ending my intitial rotation with SL, allowing me to adjust, if needed, my range for SB's. Also since SL is so late in the rotation and has such a long duration, I can mainly focus on maintaining haunt, ua/immo and SB spam until I get in my rhythem.

actually no matter when your dots are cast, when the haunt affect is put on the target those dots are affected.

so haunt first then dots, or dots then haunt, either way the dots get the boost.

Re: Making the Aff. Rotation Less of a Monster

I still just do:

Sbolt
Haunt
Curse of Agony
UA
Immo
SiLi
Corr

once that's all up, I have time to Life Tap or Sbolt before having to refresh Haunt, UA, Immo and Curse of Agony, then I can LT or Sbolt again before refreshing. it's probably the best rotation I can think of that works for me

Did you all forget about the Shadow Embrace debuff?? Idealy you open with a SB which triggers the Shadow Embrace off and then Haunt which will stack the debuff up to 2 then your set to go
