Demonic Circle in PVE
Many people have been (as i have seen, anyway) complaining about this spell. "We can not use it while stunned" they say. "We cannot use it while silenced" they say. These are almost all pvp problems. But not many people have said anything about this spell for pve. Yesterday in naxx, I was toying around with it a bit. Then an idea came to me. Normally, in my experience, warlocks are rather close to the top of the threat meters for bosses. In my runs im normally second only to tanks (sometimes not even this). And many bosses seal you in after the encounter begins. Faerlina, Maexxna, Heigen . . . for those who havent raided Wrath of the Lich King, think Aran, Gruul, Netherspite, Prince, etc. Well, if a warlock leaves his portal outside this door before the encounter begins, this is when it begins to show its worth in pve. The situation I encountered was when Maexxna frenzied and killed the tank. Being a warlock, i had the "oh dammit, tank is dead, look at me on top of omen" moment, so I ran towards the door madly mashing my demonic teleport button. And to my suprise it teleports me outside. And to the raids suprise the boss resets and only the tanks are dead. Not all bosses are tethered to their room, but when they are, Demonic Teleport can be worth 8-9 repair bills at times. If that crutial raid member dies, the warlock can rip aggro (or get it by default when the tank dies) and reset the instance saving everyone. So much for ankhs, soulstones, and di being the only wipe protection. Try not wiping at all. TL;DR: demonic teleport can teleport out of locked boss rooms and often reset the boss. unrelated: yay, i reached 2k dps on patchwerk and i only replaced 3 pieces from pre-Wrath of the Lich King Last edited by efg; December 02, 2008 at 12:51 PM.. |

Re: Demonic Circle in PVE
Yes i acctually like Demonic teleport i think in the futre raids and such its gonna be pretty usefull. Any fight which would require you to move quickly or die it could be usefull if you put it away from the raid. Think fights like nightbane for moving out of chared earth. Lurker for moving back onto the platform after water spout. Void reaver for moving out of the orbs. The list goes on and many many raid bosses have this mechanic to there fights. Yes its not the greatest spell a warlock has ever been given but it makes moving around quickly in boss fights easy and the faster you move the sooner you can dps more. I would like to see the range doubled i dont think this would be op in pvp and would make placement in pve fights less critical. |

Re: Demonic Circle in PVE
I would politely disagree here. Imagine picking up the flag in wsg, and you are already at the alcove with the boots. |

I was toying with this in H-VH the other night and every time I would have a circle down before the boss came out, the boss would instant aggro on me and pass the tanks up no matter what. We tried four times to kill the boss and on the fourth time I did not get the circle out and all was fine. |

It's also very nice on thadius as providing both a spot for the group to stack on and you can instantaneously swap to that spot if you're on the opposite charge side and get the charge for where your circle is. |

Re: Demonic Circle in PVE
I've found it useful in fights where i get bounced in the air, for getting right back to the floor again. also for using meta + immo aura, charge in and then use this to get right back out again. and it makes you lose stacks on keristraza of the cold debuff, it helpedd me get that acievement, i got out of one snare with my racial, trinketted out of the 2nd(yes i gave up a trinket slot) and ported out of the third. i still was snared, but it breaks the stack. |

Re: Demonic Circle in PVE
Yeah I had the idea last night against that first spider boss in Naxx. If you get impaled you can teleport and avoid fall damage. |

I would argue that you shouldn't be able to teleport without dropping the flag to begin with. |

Re: Demonic Circle in PVE
I keep forgetting to use it, to be honest. But thinking about it, another good use would be asking the tank to tank on it. Then you back off, and if you get aggro for some reason, port to the tank so he or she can pick it back up again. Mostly thinking of this for trash mobs, but yeah. (I know you can use soulshatter, but maybe you want to save it, you're out of shards, or it's on cooldown, or whatever.) |
