Emp imp Vs Demonic Sacrifice?
Forgive me if I sound like a complete muppet but I quit playing a while back (Around the time of 2.3/2.4) and came back a week before expansion. Just dinged 80 and I've now decided on trying to find a decent spec since my old method no longer works as well - Sacrifice succ/Corr/CoE/SB spam. From hearing around fire now seems the way to go for raiding/heroics ect, I dislike playing affliction PvE due to the low overall damage in raids, I know it's pro for bosses but I just don't like being down on damage meters. I still want to go deepish destro if I can because I prefer big numbers (Call me simple minded :P) I'm wondering if it's worth doing a very similar spec to my old one, going more into fire and sacrificing my imp, something like this: WorldofWarcraft.com -> Info -> Classes -> Warlock -> Talent Calculator Or I could use empower imp along with a deep destro spec, with left over points going into affli for a better Cor(procing MC), drain soul (25% nuke) and life tap (Mana, duh). Something like this: WorldofWarcraft.com -> Info -> Classes -> Warlock -> Talent Calculator There's also a o/41/30 spec I've been looking into, but I've always hated demo as I feel it takes too much power away from me, never liked pet control. When I was affli I used my imp as a mana power plant, when I was sacrifice spec, I, well, sacrificed it and I've never gone deep demo. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, I've been lurking the forums for a few days and I got the impression this is a great place to get some knowledge back :P. |

In response to your post one thing I really have to say is in the game now Post BC Saccing a pet is in almost all states a bad idea. If you want to go the Destro Route you will deffinetly need to go with Emp Imp and use him on all fights make sure that he is not just sitting next you. Our pets with there beefed up damage put out some pretty decent DPS and they survive alot more then they used to. The 80% avoidance to all AOE affects makes a huge Difference and relates into not having to micro manage them nearly as much. Personaly I love my FG and use him all the time when I get to 80 I will most likely go with the 41/30 spec or maybe the 50/16 I havent really decided yet but either way the FG has the highest Dagamage Output of all our pets even greater then the imps. Also he has a decent threat table and can take a hit when you are out soloing. He has a lot upsides since we do not have access to duel speccing yet although it will eventualy be here. when it comes I will deffinetly have one specc be for using him be it a pvp spec or maybe a Raid specc i dont knwo we will see how things shape up from here to there. Almost all are speccs now are a lot more complicated besisdes maybe a deep demo spec still a Curse, Corr, SB spam throw in a meta/aura every now and then and your good to go. Destro and Afflictions both have really difficult rotations and im unsure if either is more forgiving for those that cant hit the rotations with procs perfectly. So my advice regarding chosing specs would be give them a shot but not just for a night play with them about a week or so get used to the roations and give your self a real shot at them before switching out its a completely different game then durring BC.

I actually have a similar question, and was wondering if someone else tried this WorldofWarcraft.com - Talent Calculator as opposed to WorldofWarcraft.com - Talent Calculator (which is my current spec) For top dps, sacc imp for 10% extra fire damage For survaviability, use a pet soul-linked For mana-regen, sacc felpuppy. My imp doesn;t do 10% of my damage, that's something i'm sure off, and also i'm not sure that the 20% extra crit i get when he crits helps me that much. What do you guys think? i wouldnt be so sure your imp isnt doing 10% of your damage, if you are speced right to use the imp it is prolly more like 20-25% of your damage. If your not destro imp spec you shoudl be felguard, which a 25 man raid buffed guard can do between 800 adn 1000 dps, think its nuts? ask around, i know mine does roughly 850 right now and im not geared as i would like to be. As for the original post, demo is fun, affl can actually drop dps depending on raid makeup, if you have a dot heavy raid you will end up pushing each others dots off, my guild only allows 1 affl lock in the raid due to this. Main thing is play the spec you like, that you enjoy and can handle the best |

As a full Demonology lock, my FG puts out about 30% of my DPS. On single target fights, it might edge up to 35%, but anywhere I can AoE with Meta I push him down to 25%. It's still significant, and honestly even if it was a 20% boost in shadow damage I'm not sure it would be worth it. It's only a decision if you are in a situation where your going to lose or be unable to use your pet. I think that situation will be pretty rare - but if we get dual-spec sometime in the future then I could see a secondary spec that picked it for those situations. |

Looks like I'm going to go deep destro /w imp. Along with the imp glyph. Then all I have to do is figure out a new rotation. I'm thinking Corr a couple of mobs along with immolate and then RoF on trash. Then on single target, or when two are left on trash, CoE/corr/imo/Incini along with imp. Imput? |
