Re: Aff doesn't suck on trash

All warlocks regardless of spec on Trash should just be casting SoC on 1 or two mobs then start spamming ROF. If the grp of mobs is not close to death or dead after the 2nd time you channeled ROF then the grp you are in is not doing good dps. Even as Affliction this still should be putting out high dps on trash . I currently run FG/Emberstorm and I dont even cast SoC and in heroics I am about 2.3k dps and in raids I get over 4k. I do have some nice gear but I dont even have any t7 yet

Re: Aff doesn't suck on trash

Just SoC all mobs until they are all dead, if your worried about you damage and dps meters on trash. On trash pulls where i just SoC i pull well over 13k dps, seriously, dont waste mana on dotting trash, unless its trash with like 400k plus health. Besides any raid leader worth anything knows Affliction is weak vs trash as compared to a retadin or DK or Destro lock. They know to look at the boss fight meters.

Re: Aff doesn't suck on trash

Trash is the least important example of short fights, or fights that should be short.

When you're required to "burn down the add(s)" as affliction, you're weak compared to pretty much every other dps class. This weakness is most obvious in heroics where you don't have a lot of other dpsers to pick up your slack. Unless you're extremely well geared, it can be quite frustrating being the black sheep of the dps family when you're required to kill things quick.

People need to get used to it like they get used to rogues being generally worse off on AoE.

I agree with oddentity.
To be honest, people must have gotten the wrong impression about affliction warlocks if they're expected to have good dps on thrash.

Re: Aff doesn't suck on trash

Ive always been destro so I'll be speaking from my pov.

If you're doing good trash damage as an afflic, w00t for you. If not, it's fine.

A good raidgroup knows to expect not much from an afflic lock when it comes to trash. Thats mostly the jobs for destro locks and other AOE classes. But of course you still try to do as much damage as you can to help out. Im destro and do 4k crits on ROF 60% of the time and depending on the number of trash, recount shows 15k+dps or more and always top trash meters. But I dont really pay much attention to it those numbers.

What's important is always doing good number in boss fights to down him faster, whatever spec you are and especially by NOT DYING. And by what I've seen so far, affli is one of the best in terms of dps and survivability. One thing Ive noticed though is that affli generate aggro faster than any other classes/builds Ive seen.

BTW, if you're in a guild and RL is hassling you about your trash dps as an afflic lock, time to find a better raid group that knows how an afflic works.

Re: Aff doesn't suck on trash

That's true.
No-one cares about the thrash as long as the boss gets killed, unless something good drops from them :P

Though affliction Warlocks are about as aware of their surroundings as a raid healer, it provides a good challenge instead of just spamming 1 or 2 buttons like a couple of classes do.

Besides, theres nothing more satisfying than seeing that one or two ticks from Siphon Life save you when iceblocked by Kel'Thuzad when no healers can help, or when the heals from Drain Life, Haunt and Siphon Life easily negates the HP lost due to Sapphiron's frost aura ^^
