DPS Tools and How to Use Them!

Ok, figured we should put togther a list of the damage meter tools people use, prefer and recommend. I'd also like to put information under each on how to use them to measure your DPS etc.

Basically a mini guide on DPS Meters.

Please post anything you can contribute below!

Re: DPS Tools and How to Use Them!

personally i think everyone should use DBM...it just puts a lot of complicated things on easy mode... i just installed it & use everything on default, works like a champ.

dotimer - if you're a lock and don't use this you're nuts. helps you time all your dots perfectly

recount.. what the guy before me said.

omen - you really should also use this especially if you're affliction. i have all kinds of threat troubles and i really need to know if i'm generating threat faster than the MT

that's all i use..

Remember, this thread is for DPS Tools, not all mods.

Violation:

A very lightweight DPS mod tracking:
DamageDone / DPS / Heal in/out.

Pets can either be merged to owner or not.
Data can auto-reset after each combat or not.
Can be skinned with sharedmedia.

The results are very accurate compared to those from Recount and WWS reports.
My favorite meter-mod.

Re: DPS Tools and How to Use Them!

Recount only show your DPS, but it is not improve. Of cose you can use this addon to analize urown dps, but main idea, if i right understand, what kind of addons are can improve your dps during fight.

So, i curently use DotTimer combined with Power Auras addon, which can provide very usefull info to you during fights. Power Auras addon you can setup that you can see proc all you want on urself buffs debuffs and so on. When for example my trinket proc increasing my haste around me apear like lighting aura , btw you can choose different tipes of patern you can even see time of this buff so you can right calculate dot renew, which depend on your haste as you know, and not miss the last ticks of your dots. Really very usefull. Then im using MilkSBT. Mainly this addon show incoming and outcoming damage, cooldowns trinkets proc and soon, but main feature for aflik locks spesial is
that you can setup trigers to show you DS ticks and boss HP when 25%

Re: DPS Tools and How to Use Them!

actually, for drain sould ticks I preffer DrainSoulTimer, mainly because that's ALL it does. It's not like MSBT where you have a lot of stuff to look at. I preffer this one because it's quite a bit more focused.

Also, I personally set up DOTimer so that it shows any buffs I have on me that are under 2 mins, that way I can tell when I have different trinks proc, or different abilities. Hopefully DOTimer will be fixed on the patch, because on the ptr right now I keep getting other people's spells mixed with mine on the interface, which just makes it extremelly confusing, specially when you have other locks.

Oh, and I use recount too for some in game dps tool

Re: DPS Tools and How to Use Them!

Recap is a slight alternative to Recount that is slightly less memory intensive.
