Hey Pern I use affliction for PvP. If you want to armory me check my dual spec for build. It works really good for BGs, world and alot use this build for arena also. I haven't gotten to do much arena this season myself.

Thoughts? Im stumped by this.
From what I've heard, death's embrace is almost useless in pvp. You'd have to reapply all dots and everything as soon as he was in drain execute hp range to get the full value of it and that's not something you really can do under pressure. Haste is good.

Re: Affliction PvP Build

A little late for a chime in.....but my spec is 54-17-0....I do play with a point between CoE and Eradication depending

The 17 is for survivability...1rst rule if you are dead, well the game is no fun then
max stamina/quick pet/buffed armor

The 54 is Affliction...now I do use Death's Embrace, I prefer a harsh finish if I can for my opponent;however you can make argument for nightfall/CoE instead..of course I use improved fear and buff the Howl....grim reach/one can never have enough distance....someone above dismissed Soul Siphon, I don't as with Death Embrace I like a harsh finish and this gives it a pop...

I use the 2 glyphs for fear and 1 for soul link

In the end the art of affliction is the knowing the art of kiting, Grasshopper

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

Affliction tree
I'll try with something like this. Dropped CoW for Improved Life Tap cause i had to lifetap
like 5 times after a finished fight to get more mana, for the next encounter + really wasn`t much chances to do CoW, preffered to slow the opponent with CoEX instead. Sure i could
bandage after or just sit and eat but wouldn`t make sence when the opponent is near.
Suppresion 3 points to lower the mana usage during fights,(not having to lifetap) still
thinking about switching it for soul siphon tho i don`t usually drainlife during the fights.
Then dropped death's embrace for erradication. Ocassional fast cast will work better in mid
fight, rather than fast finishing up with deaths embrace. Affli doesn`t have so much burst
damage and the opponent usually dies from dots with mana/cooldowns burned down, rather than
from a sudden nuke + you have to reaply dots at 35%- to benefit from embrace at full.

Demonology tree
I used Fel Domination just ocassionaly, inbetween the fights. If someone killed my summon i didin`t usually have time to resummon it in the fightt even with feldom cause the attacker gets after me immediatly and as affli you gotta move. I'll rather pop up an infernal(1.5sec cast) after that, for some additional distraction and damage. So 1 point in Aegis, tho not great, still would work better for me.

Destruction Tree
Bane for faster SBs and Molten skin for damage reduction from all schools.

Glyphs
Soul link - obvious

Felhunter - Ocasional heals for even 2k when it`s devouring magic, i can`t rly keep the track of when the cooldown on DM is ready so i keep it at autocast and it eats up benefical effects from opponents, healing me every 10 seconds. More training and manual DM selfcast eating stuff like DK's chains and healing myself looks great too.

Shadowflame - 70% slow sounds great but was hard to hit the opponent with it, after 3.2 they supposeably improved the cone of it but rly didn`t have a chance to test it yet. If it`s still crappy i might reconcider switching that glyph to Fear/Howl one.

Just curious as to how affliction is working for people in PvP since the patch came out? I've always loved affliction most but am currently specced destruction for PvP. If a lock who switched from destruction to affliction could post their thoughts I'd be very interested to hear how they did.

Re: Affliction PvP Build

I'm still running a 57/14/0 build for my PvP. I did swap out a few glyphs for Soul Link, Shadowflame and Howl of Terror.

Survivability is up a bit (I may trade the HoT back again for my SiLi glyph...). Not as powerful as destro is rumored to be, and I'm pretty out of practice in BGs.

3.2 Re: Affliction PvP Build

I'm happy to report that after a couple weeks grinding and some purchases, I've hit the 808 Resilience mark (Armory Profile). It's another world from just a month ago when I had only just reached 200. I'm certain that the Resilience Change has played a big part in all of this as well. I'm planning on saving my Honor up now for the new Honor gear when the next Arena season starts up.

I've read that the 2v2 Arena no longer counts towards the end of season rewards? Does it still count towards getting gear that requires an arena rating? I'm concerned by this because currently I have only one reliable person for my team that is getting ready for Arenas (my Pally friend) and I'm not sure where I would find another to enter 3v3.

Also, I'm still playing Affliction with a 53/18/0 build. The enhanced Voidwalker and Glyphs of Soul Link and Siphon Life have saved my butt numerous times against melee. Casters haven't really caused me much issue. Hunter's exploding shot still hurt quite a bit, but they no longer two shot me.

I enjoy having snares (glyph of Shadowflame and Curse of Exhaustion), my racial silence, and some very strong instant cast DoTs that I can spam as I move. It's fantastic.

If I wanted to make the transition from my current PvP WG/Battleground strategy to Arena styled play, what would I need to know? It's been well over a year since I played Arenas back in BC. Does Affliction work as well in the Arena setting as it does Battlegrounds since the change to Resilience has gone through?

3.2 Re: Affliction PvP Build

In arena, I had more "success" with an affliction build (check my profile) than with destro - regarding my no-so-good hateful+deadly offsets. Though affliction's damage is super low (I had to equip a bit of pve to pressure a bit) it is sustained. I have like every single cast LOSed + immolate autodispelled as destro. Also if you are not lucky with destro crits there is no kill in arena either.

In bgs, I still think destro has better potential most of the time. AOE stun + 3 shotting vulnerable targets from distance -> gg + qq.

With higher damage output affliction would be fine. I plan to get 2pc T8.5 from hc dailies and asap upgrade to s7. The new ToC dagger is a nice +73sp upgrade too. Only then I plan to move to full pvp gear. I don't know why but the difference between 1750sp and 1950sp is like day and night (not so much with destro builds)...

BTW Don't forget to glyph shadowflame - the cone's been fixed in 3.2. Its snare + port is awsome combo against warriors.

3.2 Re: Affliction PvP Build

I need help building an affliction spec... every one i build has VERY low DPS to the point that with all DOTs on the enemy the fight ends and they can be healed before my dots do anything... anyone got a High DPS/PVP build they can share for me to try? Its getting aggrivating to run to a fight and get run over in 3 seconds... I wanna die for a reason like causing the 34K healthed warrior that ran me over to suffer ten seconds before dying from DOTS

Someone can share a good PVP tactics & Spell rotation?
PVP is a fast combat and DOT is lower DPS to kill another one.
Maybe a good Strategy can help us to combat on BG & PVP situation.
