I have never played demo and always levelled as affliction, now deep destro. But demo looks such good fun and i would love to have a FG and meta, but i just don't know where it would fit in my dual spec. I raid Ulduar/CC 3 times a week as destro and use affliction for Yogg. Is there any way i can use meta for Yogg? I just so wanna give it a try...

I'm not sure where you'd work it into your rotation. It seems that you use Destro the most but also it sounds like you use it the most on trash mobs. Boss fights are ultimately more important but it does feel wasteful to keep a spec around for a single fight.

I can attest to the fact that Demonology is a lot of fun. When the mob is down below 35% health, if you stand at max range, pop meta and just spam Shadowbolt, Soul Fire, Shadowbolt, Soul Fire over and over, you get to see some crazy high numbers fly. And who doesn't enjoy seeing that. I personally deal a LOT more damage in my Demo spec than my Affliction spec, but I will confess that my Affliction spec is geared towards PvP rather than PvE.

All I can suggest for you is to write down, or bookmark an online talent tree that has your current specs in it (in case you want to go back later), choose one of your current specs and give Demonology a try. Just let your raid leader know that you're experimenting ahead of time so if there is a huge disparity in your numbers, he'll know why.

I did ok as my demonology spec. Meta + immolation aura can do some nice dps when you're standing on yogg's head.

Pet is relatively easy to manage, and you have dots to throw up in phase 2 while you're moving, which will help proc molten core when you arrive at the crusher.

I leveled Demo and did my first few heroics as demo. While not a raid enviroment it has its pluses. First off, meta is great I originally chose Demo just for that ability. The main issue with the demo spec is, your minion. Minions don't scale as well as other class pets and you'll find the FG to be a large portion of your dps. Demo has in my opinion the most work of any spec. With affliction you have a rotation and same with destro. After a while you get used to it and only have to think on rare cases. Demo you have to constantly be mindful of your pet, know all the pets abilities to choose the best one for each fight (often still the Fel Gaurd). And be prepared to need a lot of shards. I know I often lost a pet in boss fights because you have to now know both melee and ranged portions of every encounter. Any high AoE damage the boss pumps out that melee runs from, your pet needs to run from.

Overall, Demo is a blast, just takes some getting used to. I know you posted the DPS obsession thread and this spec will fix it for sure, you won't be anywhere near the top dps like you were on other fights.

3.2 Re: Demo build

I recently pulled my warlock out of the closet again (I am not sure if people remember my pre-wrath rants and posts)... I too thoroughly enjoy using demonology, especially since I am at a much lower gear rating than say, my shadow priest, who is in ulduar25 HM/CC10/25 gear. One thing I am noticing is that in heroics, and in some cases 10man raids, I am actually able to keep up with higher geared players. Not to say I beat them, I rarely get above say 5th or so on the meters, but still, being in mostly iLvL200 gear, in demo spec (WITHOUT meta) and being in that top 10 area feels good... I also like how doing dailies and such is quite expeditious compared to when I was running as affliction or destro spec.

Mostly how my rotation works is like this:

cast CoE(I don't use Curse of Agony at all), send in FG, hit LT (for lightweave buff, and LT glyph buff), shadow bolt (for +crit buff from destro tree), corruption (decent DoT, and has glyphed Nightfall), immolate, and then spam incinerate... when dark pact and other various buffs kick in, I am rocking around 3500sp, and can crank out upwards of 4k dps... it can be a bit dizzying when keeping track of your pet, casting your spells and remembering NOT to spam LT on a boss, but I find that overall, it can be workable. Do I wish I had the gear to go destro? sure. Do I miss being able to perform well with Huant/ruin affliction spec? you bet. Am I happy that I found a spec which at the very least makes me a jack of all trades, though a master of none? for now, it works.

I'll post a link to my build after this uld 10 run... crossing fingers I get pendant of the shallow grave

I leveled as Demo when I started and it worked out great, I now am 0/41/30 raid build and I really enjoy it, it comes across as good raid dps, but you could spec into meta and demonic pact if you want the increase raid buff for your raid party as well as meta for the purpose that you want, it is more of a fun build than a HUGE dps build, but the game is mainly about fun =)

Oh and my rotation:

CoE-Curse of Elements
Corruption
Immolate
Incinerate

0/41/30

Or if you want meta pop it whenever it's off cd and use same rotation.

Re: Demo build

My main focus atm is PvE, and I have got dual spec with Demo 0/56/15 and Destro 0/14/57. The Demo build is a recent addition and I really enjoy it. I have also gone with the Destro offspec, as I found that there are certain situations where the Demo build falls short of the Destro, such as in a 10 man when there are only 3 casters. Destro also wins hands down with small mobs (2/3), and minibosses due to its higher burst damage. On the other hand, Demo has GREAT AoE damage (without even using imm aura), due to the high crit values and molten core possibly proccing. And of course Demonic Pact

All in all I really enjoy having the flexibility to select a build that suits the environment as well as the makeup of the group/raid.

My Demo rotation:
small mobs: Corr, SB spam
med mobs: Corr, Imm, SB spam
boss: CoE/CoD, Corr, Imm, SB Spam, Weave (2/1 as I have lag, unless 1/1 occurs through luck)

JEEEEEEEN. Did you ever try demo build? Did you have more questions/need help? I know looking at my armory I'm not the best geared but I raided demo for a few months and my gear is more of a no gold/cheap thing than knowledge.

The World of Warcraft Armory

Here ya go.. 'nuff said... my favorite spec. I usually top charts, and 99% of the time, I can out-damage and dps destro locks with the same or better gear.. It's fun to play, and in my opinion, a destro lock is like rolling a mage with a pet. No offense to anyone, play the game in whatever manner makes it fun. Cuz thats all that DOES matter..
