HIya all,,

AS warlock i am focusse don spell power haste and crit while being hit capped. Looking at max dps.com for gear upgrades i always see gear with spirit on it being rated higher. Now i should know all this but i am not sure what excaclty do we benefit from with spirit and whats the tiping piont to take spirit over spell power

why does this itemHood of Fiery Aftermath - Item - World of Warcraft ranked lower then Kel'Thuzad's Hood of Triumph - Item - World of Warcraft
seeing they are both item level 245 have the same spl power same stam same intel same gem sockets same socket bonus at first glace i would have gone for the fiery aftermath because it gives +82 haste rating and +74 hit rating where the Kel'thuzad's hood of triumph gives +82 crit but +72 Spirit aswell

so i am wondering why does spirit rate good for us warlocks and what does it do for us destro locks

**confused**

Re: Warlocks and spirit

fel armour takes some of your spirit as spell power also if you have the life tap glyph it does the same too.

Re: Warlocks and spirit

Fel Armor increases spell power by 150 plus additional spell power equal to 30% of your Spirit.

Re: Warlocks and spirit

As deep destruction you gain 39% of your total spirit as sp. Therefore the tier 9 head is ranked higher. Assuming you're hitcapped the off-set head is very bad compared to it.

The tier 9 head has exactly 28.86 spellpower more than the off-set head. This outweighs both the haste as the hit. Showing you that spellpower is still the most important stat for us.

Calculation: 74 (spirit value)*0.39 (DA talent)

Please explain how and from what warlocks gain 39% of your total spirit as spellpower in deep destruction???

  • Fel Armor
  • Instant cast
  • 28% of base mana
  • Surrounds the caster with fel energy, increasing spell power by X plus additional spell power equal to 30% of your Spirit. In addition, you regain 2% of your maximum health every 5 sec. Only one type of Armor spell can be active on the Warlock at any time. Lasts 30 min.

Demonology:

Demonic Aegis - Rank 3 Increases the effectiveness of your Demon Armor and Fel Armor spells by 30%.

Well, another aspect to this is how you set up loot rank to evaluate the items. if you set it to not look for items with +hit for example, then of course that piece is going to rank lower than the other.

removing the +hit question from the equation, an extra 20 spellpower (from the spirit) may do more damage in a 5 minute fight than an extra 1.79% chance for a crit. (which is the only real difference between those two items.

Demonic Aegis increases Fel Armor by 30%, therefore 30% * 1.3 = 39% of spirit as spellpower. Plus the initial amount of the spell (spirit independent) of 180 * 1.3 = 234 Spellpower
Of course this assumes the default build of 0/13/58 or 3/13/55

One other thing about spirit is that on the EJ simcraft, glyph of lifetap is used in both 3/13/55 and 0/13/58 specs due to the increased buff time of the glyph. So you can consider that another 20% spell power boost from spirit.

Yeah...

and on top of that, spirit benefits from Blessing of Kings in a raid environment, so basically you get

spellpower = spirit*1.1*(0.39+0.2)= 0.649*spirit

assuming 100% glyph uptime and 3/3 demonic aegis ;)
