3.2 Looking to join a raiding guild, DPS q's

Hey guys

First off love this place 2nd off looking to see if I can get some help or pointers.

I recently ( yesterday ) found a raiding guild on my server starting to rebuild. They will be hitting up 10-25 man naxx to gear up the newbs ( me and others hehe ). Due to my low hit rating I went and played on the normal level 80 dummy. My goal was to see how my affliction spec faired against my destro spec ( i respecced my 1st tree and didnt use the PVP tree to test this ). Looking on here for apporopiate glyphs and such for both specs...

Anyways Destro I was pulling roughly 3-3.1k DPS over about approx 3 min period.
Affliction I was pulling 3900 to just under 4k DPS, in the same time window approx 3 mins.
( keep in mind no drain soul used )

Now I am assuming that gear has a very large factor as to why I am pulling higher numbers now than destro. And once I have some better gear destro should pull in front.

If anyone has some pointers gear wise that would be greatly appreciated. I would like to be pulling my own weight when we start runs together. Hit rating is going to be my #1 priority when gear pops up. Is there anything I could work on in 5 man content that would help me out? I know I have PVP gear on in some slots.. but it was better than what I had before haha.

Thanks guys

Your +Hit is fine for Affliction...though just literally a hair under cap...but its ok. You're almost at 11% hit, add another 3% from Suppression, and then sahdowpriest in raid, and your capped.

Your Destro spec shows on armory as a PvP spec. If thats why you used..then it will be lower dps than your affliction spec.

Change the purple gem in your hood to a purple Purified (sp/spi). Work on Hodir rep for shoulder pve enchant. I would put that yellow Hit gem you got in your boots in the legs instead. And then use a purple Purified (sp/spir) in legs too. Then dump the green gem in your belt for a Runed instead. And then also put a Runed in the boots instead.

And I'm guessing you'll eventually replace the green quality Runed gems you got in the shoulders and chest.

Yeah most of the gems are just temporary till I can get some better ones. I was hoping to be replacing the gear I have in the future with something better anyways so getting gems now is low on my list.

The destro spec on my armory is for PVP. When I did the parse check I changed the affliction spec for destro and glyphed it appropriately. I tried to explain that but re-reading what i wrote it was a little confusing hehe.

If you need some hit, a quick fix is mark of the war prisoner from HVH. I always have that for a quick fix if no shadow priest.
