3.2 Deep Demo now top spec in current PTR

I still think its too good to be true for all us Deep Demo locks at heart that are pretty much forced to raid as Destro (in most progression guilds)

Never thought I would see the day. Its about the same as finally seeing a viable deep Frost mage raiding spec.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and will still be happy if Deep Demo ends up being like 3rd or 4th in simcraft after all the tweaks are done to PTR.

So here's one lock looking forward to pulling out the dusty Felguard again.

yeah, i am still waiting for some affliction love but i am very happy to see that meta/ruin might be a viable raid spec. No one can know until we see it on live. it would be amazing if all 3 trees were close enough so that not any one tree is "top." i suppose that is asking for a bit much

That's technically impossible since each tree favors a specific splaystyle and different fights. As long as any tree is .5% above the others, most people will go that way. However, I'll gladly take all the trees being within 1% of each other... that would be pretty amazing.

Re: Deep Demo now top spec in current PTR

Also worth mentioning that there are certain fights where one particular spec will have advantage over another due to movement requirements, survivability, adds, etc... No spec is 'top' for everything, but as posters have said, the closer Blizz can get them, the better.

Re: Deep Demo now top spec in current PTR

Your thread title is a little misleading at this point. Has anyone seen any numbers to back up it up?

Don't get me wrong, I would love demo to come out on top, but we've been at the bottom for so long I'm skeptical. And that's without even getting into the fact that if demo can do the same DPS as destro the strength of the DP buff will either force everyone to play demo or DP will get nerfed into the ground...

Re: Deep Demo now top spec in current PTR

Presumably the original poster is referring to the recent simulationcraft results, which have Demonology at about 10,450 dps, destruction at about 10,000, and affliction at about 9,350.

SimulationCraft for Warlocks (3.3 numbers) - Elitist Jerks

Note that these are simcraft figures, still being modeled, particularly in that the affliction figures to do not take into account the buffs to the felhunter.

Re: Deep Demo now top spec in current PTR

I'm not so sure that they will nerf dp to the ground. It's not like we are making the shammy obsolete, I mean we don't bring bloodlust or heroism or anything. I think that the whole buff class shouldn't dps thing is kind of garbage but that's just me. Demo Locks bring 2 buffs, and only really have one great buff not supplied by anyone else or class but only above a certain gear level. Think of all the buffs that other classes bring to the table. Would they be willing to trade all of their buffs for one minor buff and one great buff? I for one am glad that the devs have potentially gotten all specs so close to each other.

Re: Deep Demo now top spec in current PTR

Interesting. I have been wanting to switch to Demo for awhile, just to play around and experiment, but re-gemming/glyphing is too expensive at the moment for me, and I am still short on haste...>.<

Dunwich the lifetime demolock (yeah I dual spec though) is doing a little happy dance right now. But keeping eyes to the sky expecting a starfall looking nerf to hit before the patch drops (been a warlock too long to not expect it).

I'd love for this to be true on live; Demo is my main spec and I've loved it since the pre-wrath patch that gave us Meta form. :D
