Yeah, well, in this post I'm comparing specs in full T8/T9 gear. So it's probably not relevant for people who do heroics at the appropriate gear level. Thanks for the link fiz, it's interesting, although the absolute numbers are a bit strange. Edit: Totally off topic, but the lack of flexibility in bringing different specs and classes in 10 mans is one reason why I prefer 25 raids ;) But you're right, noone really should ever bring an affliction lock for heroic jaraxus in 10 man. I'm getting a bit jaded with all the talk of how Affliction sucks at DPSing raids. I appreciate numbers and thoughtful replies (thanks lilsteele, fizboz). I'm not so good with simcraft and number crunching, but I study what others have found and I can say from experience that my slightly-geared Affliction Lock has been able to keep up with, and in some cases surpass, the dps & overall damage output of Destro Locks. Of course, some of this involves the play style & skill of the individual. However, I have never been so far behind any Lock on the charts in any raid to feel like I need to switch specs or that I'm not contributing to the success of the raid. My 2 cents... I appreciate the discussion around dps/overall damage differentiations. I find them really useful. However, posts that claim "affliction stinks at raid dps," "switch to Destro," "affliction shines like a badly designed turd" in fights where movement is involved, etc. aren't helpful, nor do I feel they are completely accurate. ~Nef |
