Bored with Destro (Help)
Hi, I'm bored with Destro. Destro never really appealed to me, not even from day 1 when I rolled my lock back in August 2007. If I was interested in the Destro play-style, I probably would have rolled a Mage instead. Simply because it would arguably be more fun at doing pretty much the same job. One reason why I'm not too keen on Destro, is because I find that I am relatively squishy as a Destro lock. At least compared to what I would be if I was Affliction or to a lesser extent, Demonology. The reason I chose Destro was simply because after my return to WoW, (I left WoW during Q1 & Q2 2009) Destro was said to be "THE" spec for raiding. Ok so I will stop rambling on and will get to my point. - What Affli builds (if any) are the most suitable for raiding? I have searched around, but given that Destro is deemed to be the best, it's difficult to find many opinions regarding other specs. Cheers Ex Last edited by Exavor; October 22, 2009 at 01:05 PM.. |

Hi there, one problem you may have in going away from destruction is justifying to the raid your drop in dps. If it's being squishy your worried about, you can add a point in soul link (although this will take away from the ideal raid spec) but in affliction you are losing all demonology points which will boost your health etc. One selling point you will have to your guild though will be the addition of the crit debuff although they may use mages for this. Other than that good luck, personally I'd love to go back to affliction but common sense and the numbers keep all us plague throwers playing with fire, well at the moment anyhow

I've beaten destro warlocks in normal and heroic ToC yesterday... was running affliction for fun (and for the crit buff). The only place where I switched back to destro was heroic jaraxus, because 99% of the fight hang on bursting down the portals. Though, I did get beaten by other casters that usually end up below me in the charts, so yeah, there is some drop in dps. But it's not lethal, unless you are fighting for server or world firsts or something. For the average endgame raider, affliction is fine. |

Thanks for the input guys. I tried an Affliction spec on dummies and could only do just over 2k... I guess I will need to work on that before I even consider going to raids with it. Anyway, with my current Destro spec and gear, how much DPS should I be doing? Best I can do atm in rads seems to be around 3k... Well your high on hit rating which is needed but if your in a raid with a boomkin and a dranei you can drop 4% there and change it for better stat gear right there. Just make sure they put the dranei in the same group as you if you don't have that armour at this moment to swap out then another boost to your dps you need to do is drop the immolate glyph and replace it with glyph of lifetap.. Then make sure to pop in a rank 1 lifetap every 30 seconds. This alone will make a good differance to you. If your struggling for rotation or something there's an add on called "easydestro". Which puts an idiot bar Which shows you what to cast and when in great big pictures, sounds daft but it's actually really good as a prompt. Good luck mate |

@Exavor You should be looking at 5k dps raid buffed in a tank and spank fight. 3.5k on the training dummy as destro I would say. A huge problem I see with your gear is the lack of T8/T9 sets and set boni. Also you should get rid of all those hit gems, in particular for affliction. |

i like my build. ive always been affliction, recently got destro but its only in testing. i dont get near the dps i do with my affliction build heres a link The World of Warcraft Armory hope this helps. certainly pumps out some awesome dps. you will always find me at the top of the dps charts no matter what raid i goto. very competitive with destro i find. |
