Ok Im a level 80 Destro Lock (horde) with 3pts in supression, and 3 pts in cataclysm. Is my hit cap still 368? Or could i keep it a bit lower and get more SP or Haste? Every forum threads i read say being hit capped is essential, but i got told different recently by another lock... im getting confused. Thanks in advance PS i read thread about hit cap, but it always says "with points in supression or cataclysm" thats why im wondering. Last edited by Vashnaak; October 29, 2009 at 01:50 PM.. |

Re: Another Hit Rating question (sorry) :)
Cataclysm doesn't matter, it used to increase your Destro hit I believe while Suppression increased Affliction, but it is now just Suppression increases all hit by 3%. If you have Suppression, then yes, 368 (14%) is your goal. Being under the hit cap isn't 'horrible' but getting the extra hit to cap yourself is a bigger upgrade than spellpower, haste, or crit would be (Unless you are at say, 366, where you have 0.0?% chance to miss and any upgrade is going to put you way over the hit cap and thus waste a lot of extra hit). Hit is the best dps gain until you reach the cap at which point it becomes worthless. In short, yes, get hit capped. |

Just because everyone believes something doesn't make it true, but in this case everyone is right. Hit is your #1 DPS increase stat till cap. |

Last time I checkecd Cataclysm reduced mana cost of destro spell by 10% has nothing to do with hit. Suppression effects ALL spells not just affliction ones. Regarding your hit rating basically tkae the 3% from Suppression and remove it from the % needed to be at cap. So 17% hit cap 3/3 suppression you need 14% hit from gear for example |

Re: Another Hit Rating question (sorry) :)
Vashnaak, it's not that the points in Cataclysm are a waste, it's just that they do not impact hit as they used to. When you look at the Hit Guide, just ignore the mention of Cataclysm in that regard. As mentioned in the previous posts, Suppression takes care of all of it. Cataclysm is still a nice talent for you to have as it reduces mana cost, and you need the points moving down the tree anyway. Good luck! |

If you raid with an spriest (misery provides 3% hit), then you are 3% over hit cap right now and dont need the 3pts in Suppression. If no spriest, then keep your spec, and you are hit capped. |
