i was doing 25k+ dps as demo, but i dont really like it that much, i've seen other warlocks as destro smoke me, and i've got better gear. as destro im under 20k, usually around 16k |

A lot of good info here. I lvled back in the day as Demo and have played Affliction once I hit 80 in LK. I have never once played destro, but figured I'd give it a shot finally. I really have no idea where to even start. Gonna scour EJ and here all day at work. |

I am leveling a 2nd lock in destro cuase I leveled mostly in aff and have trouble some times with getting used to destro still and it is helping me with my 85 lock more but that's just me youtube is quicker for some but I am wanting to familiarize myself with every new spell as I level and I ruffly doubled my pve dps in about 2 weeks with only upgrading 2 pieces of gear on my pve set. But do what works for you but don't be afraid to experiment in the name of better play and dps. |

Your secondary stat priorities are haste>crit>mastery. Once you get to raid level gear it switches to haste>mastery>crit The basic destro rotation revolves around a few mechanics. 1) Soul Fire gives you an 8% Spell Power buff for 20 seconds (via Improved Sou Fire - ISF), so lead with a soul burned soul fire and use soul burn soul fire on cool down. Make a power aura (or similar utility) to let you know how much time you have left on ISF buff. Your empowered imp talent also gives you a 4% chance for an insta cast Soul Fire. Otherwise you are hard casting Soul Fire every 20 seconds. 2) Immolate is your primary dot and is your next highest priority. 3) Conflag is an instant cast nuke on a CD that only works when immolate is up (the more dot ticks of immolate you have, the stronger Conflag hits. That is what makes haste so important to destro) 4) you will also put up Corruption and Bane of Doom as usual to any Warlock spec. 5) when in melee range, use shadowflame 6) Conflag (via Backdraft) empowers your next 3 chaos bolts or incinerates. So after you conflag (as long as 1-5 are all already on target or on cool down) use chaos bolt and then spam incinerate until one of the above priorities need to be reapplied. 6) under 20% enemy health use Shadowburn before Chaos Bolt or Incin Spam. 7) Incinerate is your filler if nothing else can be done. I macro demon soul to Conflag and in general suggest using Doomguard during the blood lust phase after you have used your potion. There are other issues such as what to do with recasting dots under blood lust or if you get a haste trinket proc. Also issues related to what situations to use Bane of Havoc and best methods for AoE, but this is your basic Destro spell priority list. [Edit: glyphs - Imp, immolate, and incinerate. Also recommended but not mandatory, sould stone, healthstone, Soul link and drain soul (in case you run out of soul shards and adds are available to drain).] These you can research on EJ or in other posts her. That's the general gist I got from EJ and talking to a guildie. I just need to work on placement of spells on my action bar where I feel comfortable. Thanks! |
