...or something. :(

Have not played Aff on Beta.... only demo/destro.

Decided to try Aff now on live (5.0.4 patch). So I take Grimoire of Sacrifice. Summon Felhunter, sacrifice him.

I see the buff, and it buffs the proper spells, but I thought it also said I'd be able to cast Spell Lock.... the pet bar vanished as soon as I moved, and on a totally stock interface, I'm not seeing another ability button that grants me the Felhunter ability to spell lock.

Did I misunderstand? Totally batshit blind? Is there something else I have to do?

In your spell book 'command demon' - that's the one you want

Thank you again!

The best Warlock pets are dead. I am so, so, so, so happy to play a Sacrifice Destruction Warlock again. And Destruction overall is amazing. I have taken the past 3 months off waiting for this patch and disgusted overall by Warlock design.

I came back and deleted two hot bars with 12 keybindings each and my DPS went up 9K as Destruction.

And I don't have to use a damned pet. Best patch since 2.3

The whole point of being a Warlock is using the darkened magics to control and enslave. You might as well just dawn a pretty pink dress and call yourself a Mage if you enjoy being without a pet.

On another note, Destro fairs better with the Observer, not sacrificing the pet.

This is situational. Simcrafts show 386 DPS Total difference. And that is on patch fights. Your pet takes a sec or two to bounce to the next target. And there is a bit of micro management going on as well.

Not to say i disagree, ive been around for quite a while and cant even play an alt cause i love my lock so much. (PreBC)

Just saying that 386 DPS is easily lost , and its whatever you like. Also , as for your comment about mages, they have pets too , ya know. the fact that we sacrifice ours for our own personal gains is much more like a warlock, in my opinion.

Well, I'm afraid it's too early to push dps argument for minions. Scaling might change, nerfs come and go. Locks have a decent history of bugged demons, one fight or the other, so lets wait for another surprise.

OTOH my understanding of the 'lore' does not force me to have a minion at my side. We are locks, not hunters. We don't tame wild pets to feed them and make them true loving companions. We summon demons right out of hell or burning nether or from whereever we can find some, (ab)use them, sacrifice them or just send them back to blizz ehmmmm... hell.

So glad Teon is here to tell us exactly how Warlocks are supposed to be played.

Lore wise i have no problem sacrificeing demons for more power. I just wish i could do the same to party or raid members.

Or blizz could let us be pretend hunters by giving us a spell to summon some poor animal for sacrifice instead of my minion.

I bet alliance er peta would throw a fit.

No the whole point of being a warlock is to destroy everything. Including your pet. While still saddened by the lack of a shadow destruction build, the pinnacle of warlocking was involving killing your pet.

With that said, ever had your pet on a fight just sit there doing nothing? I have. Atramedes and Gunship come to mind.

I'd rather it was dead and buffing me.

Even if Destro parses the lowest, playing it is fun. I'm not going to swap and even if the pet is worth some more damage than Sac for destro, I'm not using him.

It's that simple, thematically a warlock to me never used a pet to deal damage, which through Vanilla and BC was 100% true. Only one pet had avoidance.

Label me old-school, but traditionally, locks only used pets in PVP, outside of BC demo which had a 41 point talent that gave them a felguard with avoidance.
