Re: Heavy Destruction in PvE (Raids)

I tried a conflag build for awhile. I think it was 7/8/36. I couldn't take it due to the lack of mana regen abilities like lifetap plus demonic sacrifice or darkpact. How do you deal with this besides going through tons of consumables/down time?

Re: Heavy Destruction in PvE (Raids)

I think alot of the downsides to the nf/conflag or heavy destro builds were remedied by mana tap now utilizing the +damage you have. It used to be that I found myself oom, and tapping while trying to fight someone, or having to tap 2-3 times before I had enough mana to cast the spell combos I needed to drop someone. If your gear permits, and your getting 800+ taps, the mana downsides are not nearly as large.

You can typically nuke away till your are oom, and tap twice for a good 4-5 more nukes.

Using a nf/conflag build in AQ40 and BWL, I typically can give our mages and rogues a run for their money, with the fetish of course since I still have the aggro ceiling to contend with, moreso then they do. Nightfall is also a blessing in disguise in PvE, especially in endurance fights where you find yourself draining for health to tap some more mana from. It's great to drain life, proc nightfall, toss it out there when your drain ends, rinse and repeat.

Re: Heavy Destruction in PvE (Raids)

Thanks Khaymol, that helps a bit.

Okay, I am PvE and the guild is getting close to farm BWL. So, I need to focus on a build that does AQ40 and Naxx and high dps. What should I change?

NF/Conflag:
Suppression 5/5
Imp Corruption 5/5
Imp Drain Soul 2/2
Imp Life Tap 2/2
Amp Curse 1/1
Nightfall 2/2
Imp SB 3/5
Cataclysm 3/5
Bane 5/5
Devastation 5/5
Shadowburn 1/1
Imp Searing Pain 5/5
Imp Immolate 5/5
Ruin 1/1
Emberstorm 5/5
Conflagrate 1/1

Re: Heavy Destruction in PvE (Raids)

I have been thinking, wouldn't a build like 5/21/35 work in The Burning Crusade. I mean you can sacrifice the VW for the health regen so you can life tap away since a conflag build is so mana intensive

Re: Heavy Destruction in PvE (Raids)

A key point in making NF/Conflag work well for you is to look at your raid config.

Since NF/Conflag blows through mana quickly your quickest regen method may be to lean on the healers, especially Druids since they have some of the best HoTs.
Another thing that will help your DPS is the spec that your mages use.
In my guild, just about all mages are fire specced and Fire Vuln is almost always up on a mob which is a big boost to fire based damage.
