Possible Spell Stone Uses?

I just read this on the blizzard website:

I found this interesting and have been trying to find any practical use for the stone. If it wern't for the fact that it removes benificial spells in addition to negative spells, it may be a much better tool in our arsinal. I have heard reports that the stone doesnt have to be equiped to use, but it does have to be equiped to gain the +crit benifit.

Perhaps this would be a good thing to have while on BG runs. where often your battling without any other benifitial spell outside of demon armor. Does anyone know if you can carry multiple Spell Stones in your bags, or is it a unique item in that you can only have one? I could see myself with a bag full of them going into BG, not equiped, but set to be used in battle to cancel out other spells and for the shield.

I hate thinking we have useless spells in our spellbook. It would be nice knowing that there was atleast one practical use for the spell, much like Detect invisiblity really only being useful in pvp against other locks, and in Dire Maul. Yes i'm aware you can also use it in the Raven Hill Cemetary in Duskwood, which is helpful in shard gathering when your on your way to a ZG run.

Anyways.. Spell stone, possible uses... any ideas?

Has the 'equip cooldown' of what is it? 10s or 30s? Yeah, in PvP it can be usefull, together with shadow ward, deathcoil, healthstone and maybe VW shield, you can heal/avoid a lot of (magic) damage. :D And they're unique, so you'll have to make a new one every time. Or go with a weaker version that you can carry with the other versions.

Fenrir Character Info Mephysto 70 Human Warlock Ravencrest Euro PvP Guild: Imba	Re: Possible Spell Stone Uses? like the healthstones, you can only hold one version at a time. so you can make major, and minor, and normal, and greater, etc. other than pvping i've never used it anywhere though. also the reason i'm really looking forward to the xp, where it wont remove positive buffs anymore maybe it has some uses in grinding elementals, i remember on my mage i could use dampen magic and only get hit for 1 damage while aoe'ing the wind elementals in silithus __________________ I Swear, the orphanage attacked me first!

I suggest using the Felhunter on them Wind elementals in Silithus. I found that the Felpuppy can solo those wind elementals if we just let it attack. As its health slowly goes down (slowly cuz of the tainted blood stacks) it will devour magic off of the elementals and regain full health. be sure to put atleast one dot on the target or you wont get to loot. Put several on if you dont want to spend all day waiting on your puppy, but be sure and let it get the first few hits so that it retains aggro for a lil while

I usually farm Silithus for those lovely Essence drops that pop up every so often.

Does Spell Stone reduce damage taken by Life Tap as well? I mean, it reduces the damage you take over all by Hell Fire. They have never ever made the difference in a fight for me those stones are considered junk for me

They can mitigate damage of an Onyxia deep breath attack, much like a protection potion. However just know that while you may surive the blast, you'll lose all your buffs and have to watch your threat hardcore in phase 3.
