Standard Grinding Build (from WoW forums FAQ) - What am I missing?
As a pure PvE'er, why would I spend talent points on curse of exhaustion or improved curse of exhaustion versus upgrading my Curse of Agony and Drain Life? (What I did btw.) If you find the linked build lacking in some ways, you put talents where you feel they should be. Simple as pie. Do crunch some numbers, though. The gains from improved Curse of Agony are miniscule, even at lvl60. Same goes for Imp. Drain life.

I'm like you though. If +dam rules, then improving my damage/mana efficiency even a little is worth more to me than a useless snare spell for strictly PvE grinding. |

I don't know why you don't use CoE in PvP. I use it all the time. Some guy tries to escape on their mount, I drop CoE on them and let the Warrior charge them. I will appreciate the single point CoE in BC though. The one I always forget to use is Amp Curse. |

That is completely my fault. I read PvP instead of PvE. Yeah, CoE isn't nearly that useful in PvE. The only use for it is in mobs that run at low health and for fear kiting. I would prefer to use Curse of Agony or CoS for fear kiting anyway. CoE is a little better than CoR for finishing off mobs, but CoR (I assume you use Rank 1 since it does what is needed) is way more mana efficient. Anyway, you can safely drop CoE for PvE. For PvP it is a very good spell to have. |

Seems to me then, for new 'locks, that FAQ should mention that if a) you are on a PvE server and b) you don't plan to PvP at all while leveling that there is probably a better build. /shrug |

Although it is very probable that fear-immune mobs will also be immune to snares...but yeah, CoEx opens up new possibilities. |
