--- you have recently got to 70. i would say do some 70 instances, work your way into heroics, get some badges and items, and then work your way into karazhan. theres not really much to say to be honest, as you have only just joined us at 70.

a good tip is to try to do instances and heroics which benifit you later on in the game. for example, you get a nice head enchant from the Sha'tar. so get your butt into tempest keep.

Suggested Improvements:
--- get tailoring to 375 asap and start making shadowcloth/spellcloth as your primary. the sets will last you quite a long way --- do some instances
--- get some reputation with factions that are good for warlocks (HH have a nice weapon, Sha'tar have the glyph, Scryer have nice instcriptions ETC)
--- an easy buy is the bringer of death weapon (its about 40G on my realm) - lasted me until i got the mindblade.

Me: [The World of Warcraft Armory
--- im working up my badges so i can get all the 2.4 loot from there.
--- im doing mgt almost every day for the cloak
--- im trying to do heroic mgt every day too, for the robes

---You're about where I am; just post-70 and still with plenty of slots to fill out before serious raiding. I'll specify below.

Suggested improvements:
---Head/Legs: Obviously it's somewhat of a pain to farm the mats, but you can't go wrong with the Spellstrike set here. Level up your tailoring a bit more, then you can either spec for Spellcloth, or trade your CD to get the 20 required for the set. The biggest hurdle is the Primal Mights that you need. It varies by server, but these tend to be expensive (AH) or time-consuming to accrue (the needed Primals + buying someone's CD). Do what you have to do and you won't need to replace these items for a bit.

---Shoulders/Chest/Feet: Again, max out your tailoring & begin hording materials for the FSW set. Your chestpiece isn't bad, but that resilience isn't going to do much for you unless you strictly PvP. There are better shoulders that drop in Normal Magister's Terrace, but then again, that's could also be considered farming if you have to run it multiple times to get the drop. Also, it's just slightly above Steamvaults/Slabs in difficulty.

---Back: If you can find the pattern (it's not BoP), Cloak of the Black Void is relatively inexpensive to make. If not, check the gearing guide as there are 2 quest reward cloaks (both in SMV, I believe), that are an upgrade for you. Both of the quests are group, but not instance.

---Hands: A quick upgrade is to do quest in SMV that have cloth glove rewards. Your current gloves don't provide anything beyond stats; you should at least try to get some that have +damage. Alternately, you could farm Old Hillsbrad for the Tempest's Touch gloves, or check the AH for the Mana-Spark Gloves (again, BoE).

---Off-hand: Again, this is not giving you anything spell-wise. It doesn't appear to even be giving you stats. Check the gearing guide again (there's one that's relatively easy to get, assuming it drops, in Old Hillsbrad). Barring that, there's a few decent off-hands to be had just by questing in Outlands.

---In general, just equipping a few of the above-mentioned items will start to increase your +hit/+damage, both of which you'll need to see climb higher if you want to begin to venture into end-game content.

---My problem is that I don't know where to start now that I've pretty much finished rounding up the tailoring items (FSW, SS, BoB, et. al.). I suppose I should initially work on upgrading my gloves, 1H, & off-hands as they're all greens & there's better items to be had for not much work. I've also been accumulating mats on the side for some of the enchants. I think I'll hold off on the shoulder enchant until I can upgrade the FSW shoulders...not to mention, I've still gotta' far rep with Scryers to even get the enchant (though at that point, I'll be able to get both the ring/trinket too). I think I might have to keep my eyes a little lower on the gearing guide lists; I don't think I'd be anything but a burden to a group running Heroic MagT and I like to pull my weight.

Other than that, my only goal is to raid end-game content as far as possible before the rat-race to 80 begins once Wrath of the Lich King drops.

Guessing you've just only hit 70, seeing lots of greens

Suggested Improvements:
Gloves would be next on the list to upgrade. Picking up the Oblivion set would be a wise move, the head goes the distance. Although I would just farm honor and get most of the pvp gear, as its a nice starting platform imo.

Re: Rate the Warlock above you's Gear - #2

Jizmo,

Looking good for what seems like someone fairly new to 70. At this stage, there'll be several sources for you to improve on your gear:

- Group quests: There are a couple of group quest chains in Shadowmoon Valley that give you some nice rewards. Look out for Evoker's Helm of Second Sight (Evoker's Helmet of Second Sight - Items - World of Warcraft)

- level 70 instances: Notice you've got a belt from Steamvaults. Bosses from the various other level 70 instances like Shadow Labyrinth and the 3 Tempest Keep dungeons would drop some stuff that you'd like. Look out for pieces of your Dungeon 3 Set (Oblivion Raiment - Item Sets - World of Warcraft). Once you're familiar with most of the 5 mans, you could start looking into heroics.

- Reputation rewards: There are some nice pieces you can get at higher levels of reputation: Exalted with Cenarion Expedition gets you a nice ring, exalted with Scryers gets you another ring, revered with Sha'tar gets a very useful head enchant. This is probably something for you to think about long term, rep grinds might take a while.

- Battlegrounds and arena: If group play isn't your preference, doing battlegrounds can get you some nice gear. Vindicator and Gladiator gear is more suited for PVP, but their stats will still be useful. Also, if you manage to get a couple of friends together for an arena team and do a couple of matches per week, you can get some higher end PVP gear from the arena points you earn.

- Karazhan: You might also like to think about joining a 10-man raid on Karazhan. It's much larger than your typical 5 man instance and has a ton of bosses. The boss fights are a bit more complex than what you'd see in your normal instances, but they also drop some very nice gear. Also, if you're looking to raid long term, you should keep an eye out for gear with +spell hit, this is especially important against raid bosses.

My armory: The World of Warcraft Armory

To whoever's rating me, please disregard my talents, I will most likely go 41/0/20 or similar for raids. Or if you could suggest a good build that would suit my level of gear, that would be awesome.

LOL Jizmo got the royal treatment there! Slight setting issue which is now being looking into that put all replies in the moderation queue (thankyou test bunnies...).

For any further replies, feel free to take a pick of any of the above to rate - or rate all if you're feeling extra generous!

And P.S. EXCELLENT replies following the layout *passes out cookies!*

Re: Rate the Warlock above you's Gear - #2

Lol for bugs oh well I'll do what I always do and give tips for all :D

@ Unomas

Your armory is down atm :(

@Chaosphere

Good pre raid gear BEM has a quest neck you can pick up that will be a good pre raid upgrade. Grind shatar rep for the glyph of power for your ss hood. aldor/scryer rep for the shoulder chant. If you are scryer replace a trinket slot with the bloodgem and grind badges for the icon. Mystic thread should hold you for now on the pants it will be cheaper then its epic counterpart. For the ss set do not match the colour gems stack hit/damage in all sockets stam is not needed. Grind CE to exulted for one of the best lock tanking rings/a good intro dps ring. MH you really have 3 options: 1) grind exulted thrallmar for the stormcaller 2) do some arena or pvp for a S1/S2 blade(The best) 3)fork out a bunch of cash that will probably be better spent on another upgrade for a blade of wizardry. Run SLabs for the gloves from the first boss you can accomplish this and grind for the exorcist ring at the same time just find a spirit shard farm group and run the first boss over and over. One run through sethekk will net you the quest reward OH that is much better then what you currently have. Other then that you are good to start some kara farming check out CPimps guide for choice pieces to watch out for in there mainly the cloak off prince, gloves off attunmen, and trash neck.

@MCG

Your crit is way too low for 21/40. The point of this spec is to keep isb up for the raid dps as well as being the best dps spec in later content. Craft the ss set it will help a great deal and with it you will be able to pull off an early nuke spec Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft will give you an extra 5% crit to work with. You should not be socketing for crit, socket hit then once capped go for + damage. Try out this demo hybrid it will buffer your damage/crit as both are horribly gimped due to you hit capping so early.

Recap try that spec resocket for hit>damage>haste>crit once you get higher damage and the 25% destro crit for isb you can move to haste as a primary stat but atm damage will scale much better. Grab the ss set and belt of blasting(ss set is priority). Other then that it is good T5 entry gear. Felguard is another option(probably more dps) but if you like big numbers then try that spec I gave you for some fun.

@ Ollie you are currently in pvp gear. From the pve pieces that you have on I would suggest resocketing the ss set ignore stam bonus they are useless in pve. Stack hit/damage. From what I do see your trinkets are highly suited to affliction so unless you can muster 202 hit, 1k+damage and ~15% crit (W/O talents) I would stick with it if you can meet those general specs feel free to try the felguard or Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft specs as long as you have the hit to support them these specs can be a fun change/better dps then afflcition. Once you hit the 202 hit/1200dmg/20% tooltip crit you can spec the dreaded 21/40 along with all the other highend locks. Just dont spec out of affliction or demo too soon or you will hurt your dps.

***Next person to post just rate Roast's gear as armory isnt working for me***

Looks like you are pretty set for progressing into T5 instances.

Suggested Improvements:
For gear upgrades, I would look at replacing your lightning capacitor with the Icon of the Crescent. Not sure how keen your are on breaking up your T4, but from what i've seen, the Frozen Shadowweave set and the Spellstrike set would be the replacements as they hold their own into T5 and T6 instances. All in all, you look pretty good.

I recently posted in the old rate your gear thread and have since made some upgrades.
- I have the Scryers Bloodgem that replaces my riding crop. Using that puts my hit to around 220something which is WAY above the hit cap. I'm currently working on getting my gems redone to bring my hit down.
- I am working on the mats for the +spell damage to bracers as well.
- I have 0 Badges of Justice.
- Current progression is T4 on farm (Mags is hit or miss), Lurker is down, working on Hydros.
- I really like the Affliction playstyle for farming/pvp, but I am thinking about trying destro soon.
- And finally, I've played with The New Warlock Gear Spreadsheet, but whenever I try to enter my build or change things, I always get errors. :(

Thanks in advance.
