Format to follow to get assistance with your gear. (READ FIRST!!)

Pimp my Gear!

Here at The Warlocks Den, we're all about teaching you to fish... you won't find us in the kitchen waiting for your order. The site is here to help you learn, not to play the game for you. While we are an extremely helpful bunch, there's also only so many repetitive questions we can take before our heads explode. While we do understand that everyone has to start somewhere, it's also never too early to start learning how to look after yourself, learn how to examine your own character, see where you need to improve, AND go get those improvements.

So, if you're wanting to just post three words and your armory link, can I please direct you to here. If however you are wanting to learn how to improve not only your character, but your ability to look after it, then please continue.

Before you jump right in though, here are some threads you will want to look at first. Seeking help with gear is the second (quickly becoming the first) most common reason for starting a new thread. So before we add to the already existing threads, please take the time to look over the following:
  • Gearing Your Warlock (2.4 Edition)
This is the Warlock's Bible to choosing gear. This is the first thing you need to read before even looking at the new thread button. Failure to read this first will only see you mocked and redirected to it.
  • Badge of Justice Pick Order Guide
If you have any access to badges, at all, then be sure to have a look over this thread. You may just find there is something within your reach that is an upgrade and thus, help you to improve without asking.
  • The Library and the Equipment Sticky
The Library houses guides covering all aspects of the game; have a look over the threads within, and if you can't find it in there, then be sure to have a look at the equipment sticky which helps you find all sorts of useful threads!
  • Search the forums!
If you still have questions after reading over those guides, then it's time to make use of the very helpful search feature. Unlike other forums, I have worked hard to tweak and improve the search function to work very well. One of the more recent features added to the site to also help you search is tags. If you're having trouble locating something, you can also look over the many, many threads in the Equipment and Rate my Gear sections of the forums.
And if after you've had a look at all of those plus the plethora of other posts around the forums, you've still got questions, then by all means ask away! However, to make everyone life easier, we have put together a couple of templates that we ask you to follow. Please note that all threads need to be approved before they are visible, and the best way to ensure your thread is made visible to everyone is to provide it with a little CPR: copy, paste and replace. CPR!

Again - All new threads created must be approved before they are visible to everyone for replies. So CPR!

Thread prefix: [Raider] [PvPer] [Leveling] [General] [Mixed] - Choose which ever best matches your play. First three are self explanatory, general is for instancing and general play, Mixed is for a bit of everything...

Title: All new threads must have a descriptive title. "Help me" doesn't tell anyone what's held inside. "Gear help", while better, also doesn't qualify. When you're giving your new thread a title, you not only need to think of the people immediately to see it and to make sure it provides a rough idea of what to expect, you also have to think about people that might search for help later on. "Help me" helps no one - no clue as to what's inside, and completely unsearchable.

Best way: ask yourself what 5 words would you use to describe your thread to someone, and put it into a title.

For full gear Critiques
For those that are feeling very lost and are unsure what to do about their gear, this is the template for you. The reason for this is to not only start you on the journey of looking at your character and seeing what needs improving as well as what you can do about it, but also helps us see that you're making an effort and not expecting us to do all the work for you. By forcing you to evaluate yourself first, you may find you don't need as much as help as you thought...

Post (CPR!):

Character Name: Character name you're wanting critiqued
Armory Link: Link to your armory
Talent Build: For quick reference, a simple 21/0/40 is ok.

Quick Info
Health:
Mana:
+Damage:
+Hit:
+Crit:
Have you read the gearing guide?

Items/Slots in need of immediate upgrade:

  • List the items or slots you are aware of needing immediate attention. These are your priority slots for upgrades. You can use "Bracer, Legs, Chest" or the names of the items themselves.
Upgrades you are currently working on:
List any upgrades you are currently working on and where you are at. For example:
  • Frozen Shadowweave: Tailoring is currently up to 300, just needing to farm some more mats.
  • Bracer: Working towards S1 Bracer, just need 3k more honor.
All about you:
This is where you fill in what you're about - Are you a raider that likes a bit of side line PvPing? Do you enjoy farming? Running around killing squirrels? Punting Gnomes? If you're a raider and in a guild, what stage is your guild up to? If you have any other info to include that will help people help you, post it here. This includes things you've already learnt from reading other threads, important info about you, your play style, your guild, pet, etc that impacts or influences your talent build. Remember - INFO INFO INFO!!! The more you provide, the more we can in return.

For help with specific items/slots
For those needing help on which belt to choose or which pair of shoes would look the best, this is the template for you. Although I understand that everyone wants personalised advice and a thread to call their own, please make use of the Search features for the name of the items in question - there may already be a thread you can jump in on.

Post (CPR!):

Character Name: Character name you're wanting critiqued
Armory Link: Link to your armory
Talent Build: For quick reference, a simple 21/0/40 is ok.

Items/Slots in question:

  • Example:Spellfire set and Belt of Blasting
Info:
This the 'why' part of the thread. Any and all information you can provide for why you are asking. Be warned that simply putting "Can someone tell me which is better" will cause your thread to never see the light of day.

But my question doesn't fall under one of those categories?!
Then do the best you can. 99% of well thought out, well written and information filled posts get approved. It's not my goal to delete threads, I want your thread approved!
