Raiding: current gear ok to try Destruction?

Items/Slots in need of immediate upgrade:

Lots - shoulders, chest, trink, gloves, the list goes on

Upgrades you are currently working on:

new weap (prob MG spellblade), head/shoulders/ring/trink from ZA, chest/OH/wrist from badges

All about you:
it is probably painfully obvious i'm in-between gear phases. trying to upgrade to better gear, unfortunately i dont have time or energy to dedicate to any 25 mans, so those items are out of the question. currently specced Aff, but wanting to get a taste of Destro. i currently avg about 800-900 dps on bosses. recently ran my info through magegraf.com, and it spit out some numbers saying that i would already see an increaes in dps by switching to destro. i want to, but i never thought my +hit and crit % were even close to what they need to be.

Are my stats good enough to give it a try now? or is it so miserable that i might not even see a difference (or worse, a dip in dps)? should i wait for a few upgrades before giving it a go?

any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Armory is broken and wont show me your gear but from those stats the answer is no. ]]

You want min:

-20% crit
-202 hit
-1000 spell damage

Then you can go destruction!

I recommend picking up the new badge gear. There's a lot of nice T5+ quality Crit and hit gear on sale.

WRONG! you can go dest any time you want.

202 Spell hit only point to the area where you'll get 99% of successfully land a spell on a boss.

yes that is true but around 165-202 hit is where it is actually worth it to go destro. Up until then affliction is the way to go

Pardon me. I did mean 202 as a max not a min for hit.

Regardless you don't meet the specifications to be destruction. So the answer is still no.

specification to be a dest? when did they implement such? Just wondering...you can go full dest at level 49 if you want to......

Yes you can go detsro any time you want you can also where level 20 greens at level 70 you just arent going to get the results you would like.

Specification yeah. As in you are required to have such stats to make the spec viable.

because its simple...its a player preference to be destruction regardless of your specification. simple as that!

Another perspective, theory-crafting aside; you can use most of the proven builds regardless of stats/gear. Your end results will vary but not by as much as the discussions would imply.

Theory-craft is about maximizing your damage on level 73 bosses. Most of the time you aren't in this situation, play what you like, experiment.

As to not running any 25 man content. Give Gruul's Lair a try only takes about an hour which is much less time than Kara.

You can still get a lot of gear from Kara, Gruul's, and Badges.
I have one item from Mag (T4 chest) and nothing from ZA yet, and I am max hit with over 1250 shadow damage (affliction).

Another warlock in my guild (slightly lesser gear) runs destro just fine, in fact he gets enslave duty on High King because he doesnt use a pet.

Try what you like and have fun.
