Raiding: Questions on Affliction dmg/crit/haste?

hi i currently am in a hyjal/bt running guild but we just started bt..anyways http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...n=Thegodfather is my gear set up..i am currently at 202 hit and a decent amount of damage..my crit is alright as well for being affliction...my question though i just recently got Vash's robe and Spellstrike pants and was wondering how much crit/damage to go for because the way i see it i can loose the 5 hit gems from my gear and my neck for exalted shattered sun rep and still be hit capped with those two pieces of gear..so that would mean id have 11 sockets total i could use for damage or CRIT/damage..id like to know if there is a point for affliction that crit is better prettymuch..cause i wouldnt mind dropping to 15% crit if i could have like 1400 damage but that seems a bit...i duno much?

As Affliction aim for about 1400 damage raid buffed. then get to about 20% crit then respec maldiction/ruin which will give you huge crits on par with the destro locks and will give you nice and high DPS.

After you have got those stats start trying to get spell haste. Now spell haste wont be a factor until you have all you spell hit coming from gear this does happen in BT once you get 4piece of T6.

I cant properly comment on your gear as you are wearing PvP gear. but i can see the ZA trinket so keep farming ZA for the ring, blade and helm. as they are excelent bits of kit and will last you till the end of T6 before sunwell.

As for you question about dropping to 15% crit to get 1400 damage as affliction if you dont go for Ruin spell damage is good as it affects your DoT's. but looking at your talents. try taking the 1 point out of howl of terror and put it into ruin. and also take 3 points out of contagation and put it into shadow embrace as this is a very usefull place to put 5 points as it allows the tank to take 5% less damage though it does gimp your overall damage from DoT's a little bit but if you pu that 1 point into ruin you wont miss the points in contagation.

To answer your question directly - NO don't gem for crit. Not even as Destruction. Sheer +damage as affliction and damage/haste as destruction.

If you need more DPS with those stats, spec 21/40.

If you want a support affliction spec (38/2/21 for example) THEN you can do as Jizmo suggests - if not, then don't spec into Shadow Embrace. Its pointless unless you have tank surviveability issues.
